How generous of you, Russia is more likely to finish 8th.
Well in case you haven't noticed the team you like gets +20% in these rankings, a team you don't like gets -20%. I mean the opening post has GB finishing 6th in their group, somehow. So Russia missing the QF isn't even that far-fetched under the circumstances. Especially after getting trashed in EHT games.

Semifinals. Matchups are prob based on group stage seedings? If so Finland more points then Czech after group stage (easier group) = Finland seed #1.

Finland-Switzerland
Czech-Russia

Gold: Czech
Silver: Finland
Bronze: Switzerland

As a Finn, I hate to say it but repeat cinderella story will be that close but not enough.

Reviewing the teams after two games:
Group A:
Russia and Switzerland indeed look like the two strongest teams, some way ahead of everyone else. Switzerland indeed looks like a gold-medal contender. Despite only winning 1:0 against Denmark, the energy they played with and how they preveneted Denmarl from creating almost anything was quite impressive.

Czech Republic looks more or less like expected. Two losses, but they played very strong teams in my opinion. I expect them to finish third in this group and they still have time to grow into this tournament and be a contender once the QF start.

Sweden of course does not look like the 4th best team so far. I have seen Sweden look slow and unmotivated early in tournaments before, but this time something seriously seems to be wrong. I believe this team will mentally struggle with the situation now as well and is more likely to miss QF than to make it.

Slovakia is relying too much on their first line so far, even against GB. Their QF chances have obviously increased thanks to Sweden, but they will face games against Sweden and Denmark that can probably go either way.
Belarus looks like expected. Has QF chances thanks to Sweden.
Denmark has positively surprised me a bit. Followed the game plan well against Sweden and even if they were totally outplayed against the Swiss, they were disciplined enough to keep the score low. Definitely a QF contender at this point. Might even be my favourite to take the 4th spot, but that could really go either way.

Great Britain is till the weakest team, but I thought they would struggle even more.

Group B:
Canada should definitely be concerned after only scoring one goal in two games. It does by far not look as bad as for Sweden and I still expect them to pick up and be the usual contender. But they have a tough game against Germany coming up. If they lose that they are really in serious trouble.
The US can probably be happy how this is going so far. Losing an opener with little preparation against Finland is ok. With the win against Canada they must be feeling things are heading in the right direction and they can definitely become a conteneder as the tournament progresses.

Finland probably looks as expected. Should be able to shut big teams down, but will also struggle against Germany and Latvia. Impossible to predict where they will end up in the group as a result, but would expect them to also improve and make the QF.

Latvia and Germany cannot really be well compared at this point as Germany still needs to face some better teams. I expect Germany to fare better than Latvia against weaker teams though. Thanks to the win against Canada Latvia still has the edge for the QF spot.
But Kazakhstan has positively surprised me and is obviously in contention for QFas well. As other teams get stronger I still expect them to miss out on the QFs. But they might only need to win the must win games agains Italy and Norway and maybe pick up a point somewher else. That is definitely possible.

I did not expect much from Norway and they probably look a bit worse than I expected. Clearly the 7th team in the group at this point. And Italy as expected is number 8.

My shot after 2 games

Group A
1.Switzerland - serious gold contender no 1
2.Russia - gold contender no 2
3.Czech Republic - they played tough opponents, they will start picking up points now
4.Slovakia - so far not losing against weaker opponents like others, if they beat denmark and steal one more point against SUI/RUS/CZE/SWE, then quarters should be secured
5.Belarus
6.Denmark
7.Sweden
8.Great Britain

Group B
1.Finland - despite losing 2 points vs Kazakhstan, I still see them coming up top in this group
2.USA - they will only get better as the tournament progresses, expect them to get points from all their remaining games
3.Germany - they will come just short against Finland and USA, but on top vs everyone below them
4.Latvia - their win vs Canada will turn out to be crucial
5.Kazakhstan
6.Canada
7.Norway
8.Italy

But when Germany beat Canada today, i m sure they get 1s or 2nd place. Finland will really tested in last 3 Games vs Germany., Latvia and Canada. Very difficult.

Let's enjoy this crazy tournament as we all realize that due to the special circumstances this is a one off-occasion.

Next there will be a return to normal.

Imagine if Kazakhstan medals. :) They have been playing pretty well so far. In any case, we are not even midway through the tournament, things can still turn around.

We play usually way better against big countries than small ones who just defend. We outshot Kazakhstan very heavily and still managed to lose. Tbh, we can easily do this in normal tournaments too :) But this is one crazy tournament so who knows, but I fully expect us to win today and against Italy - Germany and Canada will be very even games, so hoping for the best...

So, tomorow's evening game SWE-CZ will decide 8th place in group A after 4 of 7 games played. Anyone predicted that?

Honestly, I don't even know how to begin with these rankings. The outcome of this tournament is as unpredictable as it possibly gets: strong teams with relatively weak rosters & weak(er) teams with strong rosters.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Switzerland would go all the way. They look very good on paper and go figure if they manage to get Josi from NSH.

Anyone can wins after todays game.

Yikes that would be major collapse for us to miss QF’s now based on your predictions :sarcasm:. Šatan and Ramsay would be answering a lot of questions from Slovak media

It's pretty much a 'must win' for both nations which is quite surprising.

Is it Swiss, Denmark, Sweden and Czechs left for Slovakia?

We have Sweden, Great Britain, Denmark and, unfortunately, Slovakia.

Delete!
I am a bad predictor. That would be a bad omen for Finland.
So I better delete my forecast ;)

I would be shocked if Sweden wins one more game. Slovakia, Switzerland, Czech and Russia are too strong. UK won over Belarus and took 1 point from Denmark while Sweden lost to Belarus and Denmark. Sweden also have 2 key players injured in Klingberg and Lundkvist.
