GDT: Predatory Caniacs

Nah, the ice time and lines on the bottom of the screen are part of the scorebug. Not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about tags like this (obviously a different game)

I think it's good to keep the screen from getting too busy.

That said...it might be nice to have the tags over the player with the puck when sometimes it's hard to tell who it is or the dman closest to the puck carrier. Just ask Mike.

ESPN (as well as a few local broadcasts, like San Jose) does something like that on the power plays. I'm personally not a fan of it, because I do think it gets too distracting, but I'll bring it up with the producer and see if he's interested

All of this. And it was only the first goal that was bad against Kooch. The 2nd was a terrible line change and a good move to freeze the goalie and the 3rd was a brutal defense and a deflection directly in front of Kotchetkov.

The two players I had issues with tonight were Orlov and Aho, both of whom have been below average to straight up bad for a few games now
I couldn't watch the whole game but the stretches I saw it looked like Aho was trying to be more physical with and without the puck on his stick and lost possession going for reverse hits or trying to play the body more than get the puck.

Not sure if that was due to the physical nature of the game in Nashville or something else but it was interesting to see from him.

That's fair. The tags are probably more for casual viewers than anything and mostly just follow up on what the broadcast team was talking about at the time. For instance, they were talking about how starting the next game will cause Burns to move up the games played list, and after the graphic, there was a tag showing Burns' TOI/game for the season.

He also wants them for the PP and PK units, just to identify who's out there.
I'd look at them more if they are up as soon as the line changes. After 5:00 or 10 seconds of the line change have usually figured out who's on the ice
