GDT: Predatory Caniacs

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Tripp called it: lost the goaltending battle tonight and in LA.

Only 6 more starts left for pyotr before playoff start.

Hopefully, he gets his head out of his arse by then.

serious question here to those condemning PK for having 2 bad games. Do you watch any other hockey? Shesterkin couldn’t find his own ass for a month this year. Bobrovsky spent 2 years as a complete liability albatross contract and then won a cup.

If PK didn’t have any bad games he’d win the f***ing Vezina. Thats how the position works.

Taylor Hall has the only goals in the last 4 periods. Maybe the 17 other skaters might want to consider scoring a goal? No they were fine, it’s the goalies fault. f***ing amateur hour bullshit.

Canes could have had 10 goals tonight with the amount of chances they had but the other goalie made the saves and ours didn’t pretty simple. Worst case it’s 1-1 going into overtime right now

Or Roslovic could not miss an empty net from less than a foot away? Is that not as egregious as the one shitty goal PK gave up?

I'm not condemning PK but the reality he doesn't play well if his guys don't score first and/or only sees 16 shots in a game. Now is that his fault? I'd say no. Being lulled to sleep watching your guys outshoot the opposition and get nothing has to be frustrating.

Get him into a rhythm where he isn't lulled to sleep and I feel better about him in net. Unfortunately it seems more often than not he gets subjected to the 35-15 SOG game.

All of this. And it was only the first goal that was bad against Kooch. The 2nd was a terrible line change and a good move to freeze the goalie and the 3rd was a brutal defense and a deflection directly in front of Kotchetkov.

The two players I had issues with tonight were Orlov and Aho, both of whom have been below average to straight up bad for a few games now

And here’s the thing about that goal - it’s only a goal because the puck rolled up his skate instead of hitting his pad flush, that’s a bad bounce. He shouldn’t have put himself in that spot, but the result is like 1 in 100 how it played out.

Yeah, the only reason I'm saying it was bad was because it wasn't a shot he needed to save in the first place. The initial shot was going wide, which Kooch probably should have known with basic net awareness. But I got the feeling that he wanted to face a few shots against early to get himself in the game. Just unfortunate that that one played out that way

In an unrelated note, what did everyone think of the name tags over the players tonight? It's something that the producer finally returned to (after about two years) and we're doing more custom ones instead of just player stats (for the most part).

Yeah 100% agree. That goal is on him. But it also isn’t a goal most times he even puts himself in that position.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t notice. Which might be a good thing because I’m not the target audience and if I did notice it would probably piss me off.

So he’s in the 95% among high danger chances? What a bum.
It’s the below 50 (and it’s near bottom based on reports I’ve seen) for medium and low danger shots.

Those soft goals kill a team’s morale on the ice. Look at game 6 against rangers. Team fell apart after Freddie gaffe. Game 1 against bolts, Ned softie and they lose the series.

Need all 3, success on high, medium, low= consistency = wins.

Excellent High danger but mess up on the other two against playoff teams and it’s a loss. Heck, against a bottom 3 team like we saw tonight and it’s a loss.

That's fair. The tags are probably more for casual viewers than anything and mostly just follow up on what the broadcast team was talking about at the time. For instance, they were talking about how starting the next game will cause Burns to move up the games played list, and after the graphic, there was a tag showing Burns' TOI/game for the season.

He also wants them for the PP and PK units, just to identify who's out there.
