Funnily enough - growing up we had an old hyundai with a tape deck but my mom only ever kept two casettes in the car - Dark Side of the Moon and Yellow Submarine. Mom played dark side of the moon one time and the intro to Time scared the hell outta me so I made her turn it off, didnt listen to that album again until I was 15. Flash forward to now, I can't stand Yellow Submarine cause I've just heard it so many times.. but Dark Side of the Moon is my fav :sarcasm:

The Beatles are good but they have a lot of songs I really don't care for. I think lotsa people just listen for the sentimental value.

My parents loved them and were always playing their records. They were a big part of the soundtrack of my youth

That said, I think my appreciation of them is more sentimental that musical

Funny Beatles story...
My funny Beatles story is that the wife and I saw the Beatles play live in England - the funny part is I don't clearly remember them. There were a lot of bands back then and we went to a lot of concerts, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I remember seeing The Who and an incredible performance by The Kinks, but don't recall the Beatles. Just one more thing to make my kids roll their eyes.

thanks Mud

A very good GDT - @kanadalainen and stanley shout out made me laugh

Here's hoping the pitchfork/torch crowd is pacified tonight (but I doubt it)

I'm still chuckling about the person who came into the last PGT just to say (paraphrased)

"I'm just here to complain about the posters who complain about what other posters post"

The fact that they couldn't see the irony is legitimately hilarious to me

Anyway, let's hope that not only do we win, but we do so in a way that makes even the crustiest of Jets fans hold off on kicking their dog

I love the Kinks and their lighthearted approach to the dull, monotonous realities of life. Even the themes they wrote about in their songs about suburbia in 1970s britain still ring true today. They're like the beatles for pessimistic people who just want to drink beer and watch tv all day.

Awesome GDT @Mud Turtle, I was singing along to the words, good thing no one heard me, I sing worse than Stacey Nattress,..:tmi:

It did remind me of when my friend took me to YukYuks for my 18th Birthday and the comedian was singing to that very tune. "Leprosy, I'm not half the man I used to be..." Don't remember much after that, my friend said there was not much alcohol in Long Island Iced Teas and I had three of them...:sarcasm:

It is also great to have the HFJets bard, @kanadalainen back, you have certainly been missed by the entire board!

I don't want to merely echo Voyager but the Jets seriously need to nip their losing streak in the bud. This nicely spaced home stand is when we need to bank some points. We have to hit the ice with speed at the start of the game, not halfway through, and focus on doing the basic things correctly. Think goals, not posts and crossbars.

You can have your blonde bimbo good luck charms, I'll take the Return of Kanadalainen as a token of good fortune that I can embrace with all four paws. The reappearance of our prodigal poet will portend victory tonight and many more in the weeks to come.

Santa Claus getting the piss beaten out of him was a dull, monotonous reality of life? Man, England's a lot rougher than I thought it was :) Like, even in Philly, they just boo Santa.

Good to see our poet laureate @kanadalainen back in action, even if he still knows deep inside Gilbert >>>>>> Shakespeare on the former's worst day and the latter's best.

Good to see another Mud Turtle classic. Any time the GDT makes me laugh, our winning chances shoot through the roof.

May Nashville prove to be just the salve we need to get the taste of that Detroit game out of our mouthes, like so much of them spicy hot chicken sandwiches. With extra pickles. Double up the hot sauce; it's a short trip to the bathroom anyways.

FFS now I'm hungry. And not just for a win.

Go Jets Go, that is all.

Thanks for a fun GDT @Mud Turtle

My Mom's side of the family dabbled in Beatles obsession, some of which carried on into my early childhood years. When my Nan would spin MMT and I Am the Walrus came on, it really got me moving - so I've been told. A strange fascination still remains with their psychedelic efforts.

However, I also fall into the camp of their music being largely sentimental these days. I possess a decent sized vinyl collection and a few of their records were given to me by my folks, but I don't often reach for them.

There was a spell in my twenties where I was interested in Beatle Mania and how the band shaped modern culture. As well as a few neat conspiracy theories...

Did the og Paul die? Why is Aleister Crowley on the cover of Sgt. Pepper? Did the Tavistock Institute manufacture them in order to usher in the counter culture revolution?

I'll never tell!

If there's one thing I'd like to see from this game other than a W for the Jets, it's a fast, purposeful opening period. Come out hard, chuck a few bodies around and pretty please outshoot Nashville. Do it with gusto, as Tom would say. Time to get things back on track, there's a banner still up for grabs. That said, even if we lose, perhaps we'll get another PGT full of tales of shared umbrellas, the awkwardness of being a hormonal youth and eating worms.

Any way you slice it...

Glad to see you back @kanadalainen and all the best in recovery @AlaskaJet

Go Jets Go!

Yup. Good thing Chevy went out and got Felury and Coghlan

It's also fortunate that we didn't get rid of Stanley :sarcasm:
Yep, we were lucky the last couple years with injuries on defense, this year swinging a little bit the other way. But you need at least 9-10 guys in the organization you are comfortable inserting into the lineup any given night to get through a season. It is funny how you get so much bitching in the off season with every depth signing like people expect you will never have any injury all year.
