I don't want to describe this is as a must win game, but there should be some pressure on the Jets.

Colorado knocked off the defending Stanley Cup champs last night to pull within 5 points of the Jets. And they looked on another level, speed wise.

A loss against the Preds and that Avs game on the weekend could begin some serious jockeying for playoff position in the Central. It's worth noting that while the Avs have moved up to 3rd in the division, Dallas is on a heater too, winning 4 in a row and they have 3 games in hand on Colorado (and the Jets), only 2 points back. So Winnipeg aren't that far from going 1st to WC1 if they don't get out of their cold spell.

Nashville have won 2 straight in the Western road trip through Vancouver and Calgary. They still find themselves 12 points out of the final Wild Card position, but only 5 from last place in the NHL.

Jets looking to snap a 3 game losing streak, might not get an easier game on the schedule this month.

Injury front is still murky for both sides, but Jeremy Lauzon, who was giving Scheif some nasty runs last game, is definitely out, after being placed on IR yesterday.

I think you caught the sentiment a lot of fans are feeling @Mud Turtle. A little bit of levity, and some poetic justice hopefully help pave the way for a New Year's renaissance.

Sweet Lowry, annihilate thine kitten’d opponents; and be it not said
That Chef and Farmboy aborted their best - playing not tight,
Aye -may the fourth line bring hell – pucks sent to bed,
Gods – sharpen Tree’s grunts with effort to inhuman might:
So to proper second lines, with Fly; yo, lets fill
Thine Preds net till Juuse’s neurons wither and he bursts into tears,
And lo, the kitten’d pantheon pule and mewl again - and aye lets kill
The playful AHL kitten spirit with goals and celebratory beers.
Let thine svelt Namestnikov fly like a maddened bee
To buzz old Juuse's shore - let JoMo, Koal and Nino fire and blast anew
Come befuddle Josi and his stinking crew, with 70/90W thick KFC
Helly - engage thy godlets’ glove, stop flown pucks from this unholy crew
Call these Jetted chaps winners, with wash’d and flowing hair
Makes points gathered welcome thrice more wish'd, more rare.

@AlaskaJet, you just made my day! Glad you’re on the road to healing.
Laughter is the best medicine (well, second to the mitral valve repair).

Thanks @Mud Turtle - the beatles combined sick lyrics, deft and novel chord progression and poetic nuance to most of their creative works - made more astounding when one realizes the sheer volume of work they cranked out in a short time. Their contributions continue to influence. _Yesterday_ is surely a masterpiece.

I always enjoy your offerings of mirth and wit.

As promised I am back from self imposed exile to less publically trodden lands. :D:D:laugh:

Of course I missed this place..and all of this bedraggled assortment of friends, colleagues, fans. Good to be back. Salutations.

Now, to business. Nothing like a solid thrashing of a team forced to wear yellow colours. A sad bunch of blighters, despite their worthy (imho) GM.

Toast to the Jets.. in a long schedule there may be ups..

But we all know its fun to pummel the preds. <holds up hand> I do solemnly swear to contribute and lay down poetic justice in the service of our Winnipeg Jets henceforth, so help me (the pantheon of assorted) Gods.

My "I did not care for the Godfather" moment is I never really got the Beatles. I like a song here and there and appreciate their influence on music in general and musicians that followed them, but overall I'm not really into it.

Oh, and go Jets.
My parents loved them and were always playing their records. They were a big part of the soundtrack of my youth

That said, I think my appreciation of them is more sentimental that musical

Funny Beatles story... back when the game "Rock Band" was the thing, we bought the Beatles version (2008?) and had my parents over for New Years Eve. We stayed up and drank wine and sang Bealtes songs all night with my kids, who were pretty young

We must have done "Yellow Submarine" 15 or 20 times... so many times that as I was tucking my 3 year old daughter in at the end of the night, she asked me: "daddy, we don't REALLY live in a yellow submarine, do we?"

I still laugh about it with her to this day
