I love Bennett, so don't get the wrong idea here, but he has 3 career goals. he is not a better NHL winger at this point than Neal or Kunitz. he could/should end up better than both of them - maybe sooner rather than later - but to say he is better right now is based almost solely on expectation and excitement.

Ummm how the hell can you make THAT assumption then if he was never given a chance to succeed in the role he was made to play?!?

See it works both ways.

Either way, I hate Dan Bylsma.

Great shift by Sill and Payerl there.

Megna has been good as well.
And Mikkelson has been solid.

No, it's based on people who know this team won't beat a good defensive team in the playoffs without Sid and Geno having help, and by help I mean a guy who's going to make a play himself more than maybe once in a blue moon. Bennett can do that. THAT is why he was the Pens best winger against Boston. In golf, there's a saying: You shoot for show and you put for dough. The same thing holds for the playoffs. Bennett is a putter. Kunitz and Neal, until they show otherwise, are shooters.

I hate to encourage Dan but I feel like Kobasew is a guy that could have Dupuis-esque post-30 resurgence. Not to the extent of Dupuis but if he adopts his attitude and workouts he could become an very good third liner with Sutter. Very short sighted since I'm basing this off some preseason games, but it is a feeling I get watching him. It's no reason not to put Beau with Crosby though.

We'll see what happens in the next three games, but I agree on all counts.

That said, at least you could've given him a shift here and there with Sid and Kunitz.

EDIT: Personally, I think Bylsma is looking for an excuse to play Bennett on the third line.

Sill looks about 100X more effective than Glass in a 4th line role.

Of course Sill will end up in the minors, and Glass will still be able to tell any girl he meets at a bar that he makes over a million dollars a year.

The whole time I've been watching this game I just keep thinking that Kobasew is a worse version of Dupuis.

Engo with like a 3rd penalty

Hey, every defense needs a little Tanner Glass.

Sill looks about 100X more effective than Glass in a 4th line role.

Of course Sill will end up in the minors, and Glass will still be able to tell any girl he meets at a bar that he makes over a million dollars a year.

That is the galling part. You have 1.4M reasons to keep Jeffrey over Jokinen. You have 1.4M reasons to keep Despres over Niskanen. You have .5M reasons to keep Sill (or an empty jersey) over Glass. Whatever downgrade there might be in any of these cases (and I'm not sure there actually is), the added cap space for the deadline is 1000X more valuable.

Coming soon to an arena near you: The Dan Bylsma Roster Special

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Kobasew-Malkin-Neal
Jokinen-Sutter-Bennett
Glass-Vitale-Adams

For L3 RW, he's fine. He goes to the net and plays with a little grit.

This I agree with.

This I agree with.

I could see that happening, but flip Bennett and Kobasew and I could forgive Bylsma his fourth line stupidity.

EDIT: Oh ****.

Bolig should have gotten a penalty there. Big crosscheck on Engo to knock him down

Bennett with a shift with Sid and Kunitz. Shoots where he should've tried to force a pass through three guys to Sid. Experiment over. ;)

Missing the finishing but in the offensive you can see he is more then not in the right place. He will score I've seen a lot of D'Agostini

Kobasew thinks the game at a real solid level. You can just see that he completely understands what is going on. He intrigues me.

I wouldn't be shocked if Bennett put up 60 points this year if used properly. His passing is elite.
