GDT: Pre-Season LA Kings vs Vegas Golden Knights @1:00pm 10/7/23

Well that's not how you want to end the preseason with a game like that.
It gave me a flashback of that game in the playoffs when they gave up that 3-0 lead to Edmonton.
I want to write it off as just preseason but really this is who they are.
Luckily they have a whole season to work on taking the next step.
But it really seems like this is their ceiling as long as they have this coach and veteran core.

They can both go. Wish they didn’t send down Lafferiere

Better get used to it, it's going to be like the stock market with guys going up and down.

Didn't see much of it , but this could've been a case of the guys phoning it in , not really giving their best in the final preseason game. I can see how nobody wants to get hurt in this game.

Just had that familiar feel of the Kings coming out with a lot of energy, getting some early goals and slowly losing control of the game before giving up backbreakers.

It's funny because Blake saw a team that struggled with killing penalties and then went and spent assets to procure 2 players who have a penchant for taking dumb penalities (Fiala and Dubois)
He takes his time with addressing urgent matters. Left defense up until last year, goaltending, establishing an identity, integrating prospects effectively, etc...

Kinda weird way of looking at the situation. Fiala is a big net positive for the Kings as well and PLD might be too. The fact they may take stupid penalties every now and then doesn’t change the fact that the Kings PK is terrible regardless. They should procure a new coach who can set up a better PK .

For the final preseason game with the opening night roster this went as expected. No lead will be safe in any Kings game this year, for either side. Our best goalie is not a top-25 goalie in the NHL but as we've been told, "AdIn HiLl WoN a StAnLeY cUp" so expecting the same to happen with us is totally reasonable.

We're on track for a record breaking regular season beating up on the 75% of teams that are less talented before being exposed against the first contender we face in the playoffs whether that's round 1 or 2.

Agreed, an outside hire a la Hiller would have been nice. An NHL goaltender would have as well.

Worry about it in a regular season game, not a the last preseason game.
You are talking to a guy who would have traded every single one of our players by now if he was the GM. Same guy who would bench Kopitar and Doughty every single night.

Doughty could use a benching after that display tonight Axl.

Mr 1-3-1 makes adjustments a tglacial pace if at all. Took entire season to address the PP.. now he's going 1+ addressing the feckless PK. The dude is an enept general. He is the peter principal personified. He shouldve stayed an assistant coach like a Kompon

We've been watching hockey for decades.

And some of us are still getting upset about pre-season games that mean absolutory nothing.

There's no correlation between winning games in the pre-season and regular season success.

Why does it matter if Danault is -4 for example? He's supposed to be cruising. Going through the motions. This is a warm up.

Last years President's Trophy winner was 2-2-2 in preseason. The Stanley Cup winner was 2-3-1. Who gives a shit?

You're getting hung up on results. Win or loss doesn't matter. The look of the team is what matters and they don't look better. They look like the same jobbers they were last season.

Here’s a fun one: Talbot would have been the oldest player on the 2012 cup team, and the only guys older than Rittich and Copley were Scuderi and Mitchell.

Another one: Bjornfot, Kaliyev, Spence, Laferriere, and Turcotte are the same age Doughty was when we won our first cup, and Anderson, JAD, and Madden are the same age as Kopitar.

The same 'jobbers' who accumulated 104 points? lol

Turned Kingstalk on for the first time in quite some time -- found it interesting that @All The Kings Men gave out the phone number multiple times to field questions, then went on to take only one call before signing off. Weird...

Yeah, the same. They will lose to the Oilers again.

It doesn't matter.

If the Kings are good or bad, you wouldn't be able to tell by preseason play.

I have my concerns, but they haven't really been affected by anything in preseason.
