KP - this repeated concept that a goon would prevent things like that slash on DD is a fallacy.. i dont think anyone is suggesting that. Having a a guy like Englund softens up the other team with hits and he will throw down if necessary.. there is value in agitation and the guy that polices things a bit and becomes the lightning rod for negative energy. Ideally you package that into a guy that can play like Wilson or Gudas... obv the Kings could not afford something like that. I wouldnt mind if he made the team over TB.

Got it - im not comparing them directly really. TB cant bring that element that Englund can. You have to factor in that if a fight does need to happen, it will end up being Kempe or PLD who will sit for 5. Having Englund in the box for 5 might improve the team overall. So there is that aspect too.

I think most of us are in agreement that we want size/toughness, but the players who bring it have to actually be good at hockey.

I still think Englund could potentially be a plenty serviceable 3LD while bringing those attributes. We'll see.
