Personally, I'd like to know if everyone thinks the stats prove that Pavelec is terrible or if maybe they don't tell the whole story...maybe we should start a poll.

I dunno, I don't know how important that is. What I'm concerned with is Buff's weight. Has Lawless commented on his diet plan recently? Maybe taken a picture of him in the last few weeks? Don't forget the blurrier it is, the better the discussion :sarcasm:

Kane with Olli and Frolik? I wonder why Noel has demoted Kane to the 3rd line.

Trouba paired with Pardy - that should give Trouba a real challenge.

Does anyone have any doubt that Wright figures prominently in Noel's plans? He is absolutely besotted with the guy. I think he's an honest player, but he has some major deficiencies in his game.

He can't score, but he's solid defensively.

C'mon Noel, does Wright have to play in EVERY game? At least it seems like he has even if he hasn't.

Coach-Noel-Sept-23-2013-300x168.jpg

Coach Noel - What is he looking for from guys who haven’t been in lineup yet? His thoughts on the Sabres/Leafs brawl. Who is his starting goalie (Pasquale) and will he play entire game? Have things unfolded the way he expected? Have some players stepped up their play? Which players?

Adam Lowry - Game couldn't come quick enough. Any hard feelings towards the Oilers? How is he approaching the game? How important was the stretch of AHL games last year for him?

Zach Redmond - Still listed as a rookie, but has plenty of experience. Switching focus from injury to just playing hockey. Can he find groove again?

Looking forward to Telegin, Lowry, Morrisey and O'Dell - maybe one of them will do enough to earn a spot on the team.

Sadly, I probably won't be able to stay awake through the 3rd period. Oh well.

Go Jets Go!!!

I'm not really sure I get what Noel is doing with his line-ups.

I don't want Olli centering Kane and Seto, but if he's going why not let the three play together and develop chemistry. Same goes if Mark centers that line. I don't neccesarily want to see a full line up, but I'd like to see full lines.

I think it's interesting how Noel keeps placing Wright in the best place for success (other than placing him on the top line every time)...

Is this a tryout and Noel's decision reflect the results, or is this a glimpse of some serious Wright TOI in the top 9?

Who knows? It's pre-season!

I actually think that Noel is trying to position Wright for a prominent role on the team, maybe in the top-9. He is clearly a favourite of Noel's.

I don't mind him as a useful spare part, but I think we have a number of other better pieces. For example, I'd prefer to see more of Tangradi. I think he has better upside than Wright.

Wright has a lot of hustle and he's good defensively. Probably just a reward for playing the game "the right way". If only he had some hands he'd be a pretty decent player.

Some coaches are like that. You can be more skilled and have more flash than another player, but if you aren't playing "the right way" according to how this coach wants it, you are in the dog house. And the player that does play "the right way" that isn't as skilled, gets rewarded. Noel has a system or method to his madness, as all coaches do, and the players under him need to adapt ( as long as he's coach ).

Noel preaches "north - south", "north - south", so that better be the direction you are going. Would have been interesting to imagine a coach like Noel having Gretzky on his team.... " I don't care if you get 200 points, you just better be going north - south when you get your points, or your sittin' "

Lineup from the Oilers thread.

Omark - Gordon - Yakupov
Joensuu - Arcobello - Pitlick
Jones - Lander - Hamilton
Eager - Acton - Brown

Ladislav Smid
Nick Schultz
Andrew Ference
Philip Larsen
Anton Belov
Taylor Fedun

Dubnyk
LaBarbera

Looks like this one will be a grinder/energy/4th liner battle.

I've said it before and I'll say it again : Jets would be better and my life as a fan would be much happier if Wright and Stuart weren't such hard workers

I don't mind rewarding pure effort to some extent but the results have to back up the effort level. I could care less if player B looks like he is trying 10x harder than player x, if player x still generates superior on ice results. I think Noel at times gets blinded by this and in the end it can cost the team.

Pasquale playing and watching Frolik are some of the only things I'm excited about today. Getting real tired of watching Kane steaming with frustration when his centre is nowhere to be seen, probably hitting the boards awkwardly somewhere. I'll have to miss the first two periods anyways, class at U of W until 10 tonight...
