GAME NOTES

The Winnipeg Jets travel to Calgary tonight to take on the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome…Last night the Jets beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 at Bell MTS Place to improve to 3-1-0 during the pre-season...The Jets beat the Flames 4-3 in overtime on Friday night in Winnipeg...After a practice day tomorrow, the Jets continue their pre-season schedule Wednesday night on the road against the Minnesota Wild.

On the Road Again

Several members of the Jets are slated to play in tonight's game that played in Friday's road game as well...Five of Winnipeg's six defenceman played against the Oilers, including Jacob Trouba, Josh Morrissey, Tucker Poolman, Sami Niku and Logan Stanley...The forward group is once again being anchored by the line of Adam Lowry, Andrew Copp and Brandon Tanev, while forwards Seth Griffith, Jack Roslovic, JC Lipon, Brendan Lemieux and Marko Dano as also expected to suit up for the second straight road game.

Two for Dano

Forward Marko Dano has scored in both of the pre-season games he has played in so far...His two goals match the two goals he scored all of last season in 23 games...Dano had one goal in five pre-season games last season.

Trying it Out

Forward Tye McGinn and Matt Ustaski, who are in camp on PTOs and have signed contracts for this season with the Manitoba Moose, are making their pre-season debut tonight...McGinn has 89 games of NHL experience with the Philadelphia Flyers, San Jose Sharks, Arizona Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning...Ustaski is set to enter his first full professional campaign after four seasons at the University of Wisconsin...He had seven points in 14 games with the ECHL's Jacksonville Icemen at the end of the last season and also played in one game with the Moose.

Extinguishing the Flames

The Jets went 2-1-0 against the Calgary Flames last season...Most of Winnipeg's success against Calgary has come at Bell MTS Place, as the Jets are 4-2-1 against the Flames in Winnipeg since 2011...Mathieu Perreault led the Jets in scoring last season against the Flames with three points (1G, 2A) in three games...Blake Wheeler is the Jets franchise leader in scoring against the Flames with 16 points (6G, 10A) in 15 games.

Road Start

For the first time since 2015, the Jets start the regular season on the road, as they begin the 2018-19 campaign at Enterprise Center in St. Louis against the Blues on Oct. 4 and follow up with their second game in Dallas against the Stars on Oct. 6...However, Winnipeg plays the bulk of their October schedule at Bell MTS Place, as the team has seven of their first 10 games at home...The Jets have a season-high six-game homestand from Oct. 14-24.

Pre-Season Sked

The Jets are in the midst of six games in eight days, including three back-to-back sets ...Winnipeg plays their usual pre-season counterparts twice each - Minnesota, Calgary, and Edmonton - and host the New Jersey Devils on Thursday in their lone pre-season game against an Eastern Conference opponent.

Finland on the Horizon

While the Jets don't play a neutral site game during the pre-season, Winnipeg does have a pair of neutral site games on its regular season schedule, as the Jets are scheduled to play the Florida Panthers in Helsinki, Finland on Nov. 1 and 2.

Time for Rosie to drive some offense at the center position. Can we see kid Connor on his wing and Lemieux on the other?

Looks like 27/28/56 might be in the cards.

I want to see Jack with Marco, but would prefer to see with Kyle on the left, or Mathieu. Don't think Brendan fits that line's style.

Nah, what that line needs is penalty minutes.

Ustaski shouldn't even play for the Moose, let alone the Jets. God, it's like Every Kid Can Play this pre-season.

Coach Maurice scrum topics: What is he looking for from the Ehlers/Roslovic/Lemieux line? On Ehlers being a driver on a line. On Seth Griffith playing his fourth pre-season game. On the young guys opening eyes at training camp. Starting goalie? What has caught his attention with Brossoit? What intrigues him about Ehlers/Roslovic? Any update on Nic Petan?

So based on the lines we are seeing this pre-season, are you guys getting any sense of what the opening day lines might look like? Any possible significant changes to the top two lines? Who do you think Roslovic plays with as his winders?

I'm guessing...

Copp - Lowry - Tanev
Ehlers - Roslovic - Dano
Lemieux - Suess - Griffith
McGinn - Ustaski - Lipon

Mojo - Trouba
Niku - Chiarot
Stanley - Poolman

2nd game in a row where Vesalainen is not playing. Sign that he'll be cut? You'd think they'd play him every game to see if he is good enough to stick. I don't imagine he has already earned a spot.

Idon't think he doesn't belong but I can't see him beating out Connor, Ehlers, Wheeler or Laine for a top 6 spot and Copp and Tanev are guaranteed to play 3rd line with Lowry so his ice time may be limited. Personally I think the Moose is a far better spot for him to go than Europe but it will be his call.

He played last night with Scheifele and Wheeler for the first two periods.

Good to see more of Brossoit, other than that not much excitement for this game.
i have been taking the baby for a walk the last few games. I live close the fraser river and have noticed that some big fish jumping during jet's broadcasts.

been able to stream on my phone for a few minutes a game. very nice way to watch pre-season games.
