We might have a 3rd line if Boyle were playing up to his abilities. Him, Pyatt and Miller have the makings right now of being a decent third line. But Boyle has been missing. Rangers have had a hard time integrating a lot of their forwards this year and Brian's game has regressed. Add on that Kreider has not found his game and a lot of the depth we were counting on has not come through.

On the question of MZA--he is not a 3rd liner either. He's too small and doesn't have the grit or enough defensive ability to fit into that kind of a role. He's more of a specialist type player and guys like Boyle, Halpern, Asham, Pyatt, Miller, Haley aren't good fits with him as linemates either. To be effective at all he has to play with other skilled players.

On the bright side . . .

Pyatt - Miller - Powe
Boyle - Halpern - Haley

. . . is an astronomical improvement over what we were running a few games ago with . . .

Pyatt - Boyle - Powe
Bickel - Halpern - Haley

At least it looks like we might be trying to score on the third line now.

Ideally, Boyle would be not playing like absolute garbage so he could center the third line. Miller looks great at center, but Halpern and Boyle really make up for our top 2 lines' subpar FO%. But I agree, right now replacing Bickel with Boyle makes the most sense.

Richards' FO% is 50.9%. Hardly sub-par.

Wow, looking at the stats, I never realized how good Boyle was at faceoffs. Over 57%, first on the team. Halpern is second, 56.3%.

And another impressive stat: JT Miller is winning 53.3% of his faceoffs, as a 19-year old rookie. :amazed: It's not like he's taken 30 or 40 faceoffs, either, he's taken 215 already.

Wow, didn't realize that Miller has won so many faceoffs. Pretty impressive stat. Isn't Lindberg supposed to be a faceoff machine too?

One of these is not like the rest.

:handclap:
