Or just getting a shot on net and not shooting into shin pads, a special skill that Jaroslav Modry and Jack Johnson had mastered as Kings.

paging kyle quincy...

seriously, I have never seen as many limp/soft wristers make it through traffic on net as the year he was manning point on the pp.

We as Flyer fans called it Randy Jonesing and I'm surprised he didn't do the same in LA!

I think it all boils down to DD. He's not a good PP QB. 2 years ago he played offense different. He didn't delay his shot, he didn't try to be a super hero and rush into the zone against 3 guys. He simply put the puck on net. there is a reason why Richards and Voynov are so effective on the PP. They play a simple game and are rewarded. Whatsmore, they are dependable as to where they are going to be on the ice. How many passes back tot he blue line where a forward expects DD to be there gets cleared, or worse get a break going the other way?

Doughty is a big reason we are struggling. He was never good at getting the puck through traffic, but during his breakout year, he was much more eager to at least shoot the puck and get it in front of the net, but he did so quickly and used wrist shots as well as quick slap shots.

Now he either winds up for one huge slapshot and everyone getins in the way in the meantime, or he looks for a pass, and lately it has been typically looking for a pass, even when the opportunity of getting the puck on net is there.

Yeah I can't really agree.
Ignoring the stats, our PP just LOOKS better. They're moving the puck better, being more creative instead of just passing back and forth around the outside. If we keep going like we're going the numbers will come around.
