Evander Kane Edm Supposed to be close to ready to play which makes things complicated for the Oil, only 1 year @ 5.125 (so match well with 1 year left for Mrazek), full NMC just morphed into 16 team no trade list (unfortunately I would suspect the Hawks are on the list)

Yeah, that's pretty much the case with Maroon. As much as I wouldn't mind a big goon plodding around & throwing his weight around, it's time to get lighter & faster.

No way. Just ending development phase and entering NHL phase. Skates surprisingly well for 6’8” and right handed. No way he’s an add-on. Hawks should keep him and see what happens next year. A lot of time invested in him. Part of the Twin Towers with Vlasic.

You’ll have to give up the first for Donato alone, especially considering that the 2025 Leafs first that the Hawks already have might be later with the help of Donato on the team.

As excited as I am about Knight, he complicates a lot of Blackhawk careers: Soda, Mrazek, Commesso, Brossoit.

He also likely changes how you approach the next couple drafts.

The goalie room is saying the politically correct things, but that isn't likely to hold. I wonder if Mrazek moves come Friday - take a bad contract, send a bad contract trade.

I believe this is correct - Knight, Mrazek, Brossoit and Commesso will all be up at the same time for contracts/extentions as they all have contracts that expire after next season. Soda is a RFA after this season. Nevermind that Gajan may be signed. Lots has to be sorted out in net.

When it comes to 4 goalies, no, it's not a good problem to have.

You cannot possibly give each of them a proper amount of minutes to evaluate and compare them. And goalies like to settle into their groove, which is not possible if they play once every four games.

Not to mention the turmoil it'd cause over guys not getting enough ice time.

It would be a war crime for them to go into the playoffs with Skinner/Pickard. Both with a SV% under .900 at the moment.

I think people are over valuing Soda. I think at 25 he has more value to us then to anyone else. We got SK who is 2 years younger and has been consistent better then Soda along with a 1st for Jones. I would prefer to keep him and have him be SK backup and get about 1/3 the starts next year.

If Iittawaxso keen on Donato we must remember they must forfeit either thec2925vor 2026 first ...meaning g unless they later trade a player they coukd have no first rounder in2025 or 2026 ..

But if they are desperate for maki the playoffs to this season and need more goal scoring then they probably use their 2025 first to load up now rather than the 2026 first unless they can suckered KD into accepting say a 2nd (2025) and 2 3rds for 2026 ( they have 3)..BUt Hawks shoukd insist on quality over later quantity

The Leafs seem focused on adding a scoring 3C and a sturdy D.

I think they kick tires on Nelson/Laughton/Gourde and Parayko(pipe dream)/Larsson/Ristolainen.

However; if the above fail - and Donato + Murphy are/still available. You have to imagine they both fill the “need”. Value/Capspace is another story.

We kinda need Murphy. He is our only RHD at the moment. Donato is more of a W than a C to me. But he has a shot!

I see the Leafs getting Laughton to be honest. That would really help them.

His value is probably around a 2nd. Hawks have and have had enough 2nd and 3rd rounders throughout this rebuild to last a lifetime. Same goes for B level prospects.

If a team offers a 1st or something valued similarly to a 1st, do it. But I doubt he has that much value league wide and we're best off keeping him and hoping he can be a good 1B (or backup) to Knight.

Exactly this. I don't get the trade Soda camp at all. We are going to need a good backup for the rebuild and contention years, and he's young and showing a lot of promise.

Why get rid of that at all, not to mention for the 50th 2nd rounders we own.
