Vejmelka is probably leaving and they would get a 1B goalie on a 1 year deal and a 3rd?Why on earth would Utah do that trade?
Mrazek is disaster right now signed at high cost for next year
If they wanted to move Vejmelka to Oilers they would just go ahead and directly make trade with Oilers without Hawks involvement
assume that Brossoit and Mrzak are washed, feel free to send either to Rockford and if they get picked up well that is great, lets have Soda and Knight in net next year...super stoked about the trade for Spencer, this along with trades/UFA's and kids coming up the future looks bright, stop signing so many aged vets...I know we dont want to send guys mike mzarek down. but we cannot run 3 goalies next year. Im wonder if brosset is ever going to be the same? I wonder if instead of sending him down or finding someone to retain on him (cost is much higher with 1.25 years) maybe we do buy him out so he can sign as a backup with a contender. he has a $1mil bonus and 2.65 salary so its only a 883K cap hit in the 2nd year of the buyout.
Lesson learned, gotta go back to "formulate a trade" training.I genuinely don't know if I would even want him for free at that cap hit right now. Bonkers trade idea.
Can't say I disagree. I don't see Soderblom being an every day starter like you can see with Knight. Soderblom can be a guy you can rely on if your starter gets hurt, and be a pretty good back up. But who knows, goalies are so strange.I may be in the minority but think that if any goalie is moved, it is Soda.
We may actually get something decent back if we did, rather than just dump Petr. Lower contract, higher value than Mrazek. Upcoming RFA, young guy with potential for another NHL team as a backup that could replace their shaky starter (like Edmonton).
Hawks may just ride Mrazek another season in tandem with Knight and then have Knight fully take the reins if he hasn't already.
Not saying it is the right move, but I could see it making the most sense to net us more value in a deal. Especially if they feel like Knight is THE guy moving forward.
I loved EP and think he's one of the most talented guys in the league but clearly his GAF meter is gone and he's got a massive deal for a long time. I'd give up some picks and Moore but I wouldn't give up Nazar.F*** no. I would not offer that.
Yeah, it makes more sense. Knight can be a starter. Mrazek is untradeable at this point and Soda is tradeable. You can send Mrazek to the minors next year or buy him out and then run Knight and Brossoit. Then hope one of Gajan or Commesso can backup from there (or someone else). Can't say I disagree. I get what you're saying but I'd keep Soda at this point. Yeah we could get something decent for him but it's not going to be what we really need like true top end scoring talent. What is another 2nd round pick or bottom 6 prospect really going to do for us? Especially when we sell Donato.I may be in the minority but think that if any goalie is moved, it is Soda.

I definitely don't disagree and would like to keep Soda as well. My comment was mostly what I think may happen and that we shouldn't be completely shocked if he is traded.I get what you're saying but I'd keep Soda at this point. I'd rather dump Mrazek and go into next season with Soda as the backup. Maybe he increases his value further and we could have somewhat of a Swayman Ullmark situation as both have room to get even better. I see that as much more desirable than having another Ryan Greene type propsect in the system.
Don’t think it’s dumb at all this year. Next season they’ll do right by him. This may be dumb but can they just ride 3 goalies for the remaining 21 games and figure it out in the offseason. Mrazek has been such a good soldier for 2 years now Id hate to waive him and make him go play in Rockford.
Not sure he can get an NHL job at his number. They'll have to buy him out.Don’t think it’s dumb at all this year. Next season they’ll do right by him.
Could be. Still think they can move him to a team like San Jose who is losing vanicek and Georgiev. Maybe Mrázek is a ok option to backup yaroslav next seasonNot sure he can get an NHL job at his number. They'll have to buy him out.
883K is the cap hit in th2 2nd year. Buy out makes the most sense. Not sure he can get an NHL job at his number. They'll have to buy him out.
Of course they can, and that's probably what happens. I was thinking they trade Soderblom in the off-season.This may be dumb but can they just ride 3 goalies for the remaining 21 games and figure it out in the offseason.
