Potential Trade Targets (2025 edition)

No on Pettersson, too long and rich deal for a player who is currently in limbo if they can get their mojo back. And unless a team is willing to pay a big price for Donato, I'd like for him to stick around for longer.

It's gotta be Mrazek even if the deal is bad. He was always a stopgap for us.

Soderblom's development this year makes him not untouchable, but pretty close imo. We need multiple young goalies and he's looking very exciting.

I don't think Soda would be worth a lot on the market though, because his play this year could also just be a fluke. Nobody would touch his last year's version.

Mrazek has to be the guy they try to move but he does have a pretty sizable contract at $4.25 million per for one more season. Soderblom is a RFA so who knows what they will entail no with Knight in the picture. Maybe Soderblom wants to move on to a better team after the beating he takes here. Commesso should pull an Askarov and ask to be traded with the logjam in front of him. Bottom line is playing goalie right now in the entire Chicago organization isn't an easy job.

Only way Mrazek moves before the TDL is taking back a compareably bad contract on a F/D. You might be able to move him this Summer with a retention spot opened up. My guess is Mrazek and Brodie both get bought out this Summer, which will actually help getting toward the cap floor when you combine their buyout hit plus a roster replacements cap.

frank S mentioned something like a 3 way trade. Mzarek to ED, future consideration to Chicago and another team gets a 3rd for retaining $2mil

kevin W says plenty of Clubs checking in on Donato. they like his versatility, compete and $$ what about 1st with Dallas 2nd going back?

You would think Brossoit would also be a buyout candidate.

If he regains health, he has a pretty extensive track record of success and might be someone you can move for (not much of one but) an asset. Once the Hawks pay his signing bonus, he is only owed 2.3 million real dollars which might have some attraction to teams getting to the cap floor (that don't want to spend actual salary to get there).

just a thought

To Edmonton- Vejmelka
To Utah- Mrazek + St Louis 3rd (from Edmonton)
To Chicago- Future Considerations

Totally out of left field but man, Jack Eichel after 2026 as a FA would really fit into the timeline nicely, especially if the team experiences substantial growth next year.

LeBrun and Johnston linked Donato to Ottawa, Washington, and Winnipeg in a column at the Athletic today

With enough of a bidding war (and with how weak people perceive the draft as being this year) they may not need to add much of anything to get a 1st for him at this point

He would look good on Winnipeg or Washington. All the teams have their 1sts for 2026 (Ottawa loses theirs as they chose this year to take that ridiculous penalty) but me thinks we may need to sweeten the deal with a 2nd or 3rd on top of Donato to get that 2026 1st.

Would like to get Kupari from Winnipeg.

One of the best skaters in the league and can win faceoffs.

Although he's just a bottom 6er, having a legit center who fits the timeline and can win draws would be a decent return for Donato.
