I really feel like this is going to be Jones for Manson + Ivanx2 + other stuff. I can’t see it being Mittlestadt just because they’d have no one to replace him up the middle unless Rantanen goes there, which I guess he could.

It could because the Avs pulled off the Walker trade and then the Byram for Middlestadt trade within mins last year

They might very well have something cooking for a C in another deal

What does Ivan add?
He seems like a career AHLer.

Undrafted kid that turned being a Junior overager into an AHL Contract followed by a good season that got turned into an NHL Contract where he's made the NHL roster as a waiver-exempt 22 year old player in the lineup for 40 out of a possible 49 games on a competitive team in just his second professional season. Seems like a guy with a shot at a pretty lengthy NHL career in a bottom six role.

What I'm hearing

—Chicago general manager Kyle Davidson has been present in the press box at the last two Avalanche games. He spent a lot of time chatting with Chris MacFarland during the first intermission Wednesday night. The Blackhawks have also been scouting the Colorado Eagles extensively of late.

None of this means guarantees a deal, but you can be sure the teams have spoken. Keep in mind that Buffalo's assistant general manager was in Denver for a few games before the Casey Mittelstadt-Bo Byram deal went down.

Sources told The Denver Gazette the Avalanche have checked in on Seth Jones, but they're not the only team that has done so. There's no way the Avalanche could take on his full contract, so there would have to be some maneuvering and retention done for something to get finalized there. Either way, a general manager doesn't typically spend that much time looking at a team if it's a standard trade for a rental.

Seems like it would be a big trade if it even happens

people mention Ivan Ivan from the minor league Eagles but I am thinking its Sean Behrens-D who also happens to be from Barrington, Il

Updated trade bait list. Although I will say, some of the names I don’t think are moving on here and not necessarily accurate.

Jones at 11, Donato at 22 and Hall at 30.

This one is from Chris Johnston

Jones at 10, Donato 13, Hall 23

Donato is having a banger of a year. He will be great help for someone. Hall is Hall. Jones needs to be in a good team headed for the playoffs. Just hoping.

At this point id bet serious money on Jones to Colorado.

All the signs are there. We could even get some actual return.

Colorado already traded their 2025 1st round pick, but still own their 2026 which might even be preferred anyway. Would be nice to get an additional 1st round pick for the 2026 draft like we've had for the last few drafts and the upcoming 2025 draft.

Seth Jones at 7mil (2.5mil retained) and Taylor Hall 50% retained and 50% retained from Calgary on previously retained salary.

To Chicago- Girard at 5 mil
To Colorado- Jones 7 mil and Hall at 1.5mill
To Calgary- Chicago 4th

Colorado takes on 3.5 million cap

I honestly have no idea how Colorado views Girard or Manson so this could be terrible.

As much as we view Seth Jones like an albatross, the rest of the league doesn't. If we retain that much on Jones AND Hall, we could get real assets. Not just a 'not as bad' contract in return.

Seth Jones NMC lets him pick his destination(s). These teams know that too.

Sure. But they don't HAVE to trade him either. This isn't like when Kane was traded and everyone knew it was only like 2-3 teams he wanted to go to plus he was a pending UFA. Or the Bowman years when teams had him by the balls cuz he was up against the cap.

Colorado aren’t moving Sam Girard.

In addition to picks/prospects, these are the guys on decent salaries that could be included to make room for Jones’ massive contract:

- Casey Mittelstadt ($5.75m AAV x 3y)

- Josh Manson ($4.5m AAV x 2y, 12 team NTC)

- Ross Colton ($4m AAV x 3y, full NTC this season)

- Miles Wood ($2.5m x 5y, 6 team NTC)

true but it could be only 2-3 teams for the remainder of the contract. If they want to get rid of him and have the chance they might pull the trigger for less

I would say Manson then. Hinsdale native.

Manson has been alternating between bad and injured most of the season. He's not aging well.

And where he's from really isn't a good indicator on whether or not it's a good trade.
