I see the appeal I just hate the cost. Hard pass.
I see the appeal, I am willing to meet the cost, easy yes. This team needs a young(er) star to play on line with Bedsy and take to help this team turn the corner. As long as we keep our 2025 1st I am willing to mortgage picks/prospects to acquire high end talent. Brady Tkachuk is 25 6'4 225 and has back to back 35+ goal seasons and is big/nasty player who is exactly what you want on a line with Bedsy. I dont see any downside to getting him. If you can land Schaefer in this draft or Hagens/Misa then I really can't see any downside to it. I am sick of trying to hope prospects pan out and pray we get lottery lucky (we already did with Bedard) its time to add a huge piece to puzzle.

If I am GM I am targeting younger upside guys who quite haven't lived up to draft slot expectations...specifically Kent Johnson from CBJ and Mason McTavish from Ducks
Anaheim is going the tougher harder player route, so I don't see them moving McTavish. That's why I was saying Zegras

It’s adorable how easy people forget people who play Tkachuks style also drop off the hardest and fastest.

Jamie Benn and Milan Lucic were elite once too until they weren’t

Those guys had miles of playoff time too destroying their bodies. Ottawa is a dumpster fire who hasn't sniffed a playoff run. Both Tkachuk brothers will definitely fall off playing their style but Brady will likely have a longer shelf life than Matthew because of it (although maybe Matthew is figuring that out considering his PIM, hits, etc stats are way down so far compared to every year he's played)

Rumors of Dylan Cozens being moved?

Given the lack of NHL-proven center depth, the Blackhawks should definitely tick the tires. He fits perfectly into the age range they need, too.

That’s a huge financial commitment for a guy who’s really struggled for 18 months at this point and probably isn’t a true center at the nhl level

Cozens has had 1 good season during a year when Thompson and Skinner were playing the best hockey of their lives. I question his hockey IQ.

I see the appeal in his profile as a player but he's overrated as hell and has some behind the scenes shit I don't like.

Way too much smoke for there not to be some fire. It's rumored he's got a handshakes deal to be captain if he signed his deal. You don't add an outsider like that.

We can't really offer anything unfortunately.

Can't imagine Buffalo would want prospects and picks again, they're done with those type of packages.

He’s 25 years old and won’t even be 30 by the time his current deal is up.

Which is exactly why I wouldn’t pay for him. He’s not a difference maker enough to make that move worth making given he’s only under contract for 4 more seasons after this one.

Why not trade back for Saad? He is a healthy scratch with STL. He can still skate, plays hard and scored 26 last season. STL might want to move the salary after acquiring Fowler

A real center who can win a face off. If Boston slips, gun at Zacha for example.

Stenlund or Sissons or Pageau. Keep Dickinson on the wing and let a kid take the other side with two shutdown types. With Dickinson not worried about draws, they should be able to play with the puck a little more and dictate a few more matchups to work the kids in.

Just spitballing, but I think all of them could be attainable if they're out of the playoff picture. No reason to be hyper conservative with the Toronto pick or extra 2nds. Besides, I want staff to focus on getting a few pics right instead of letting KD have so many that he'll want to flush a bunch down the toilet for no good reason when they can be cashed in for players that actually serve a purpose.

I'd take Saad if it costed like Hall.
What did Hall cost?

Pass. Saad had no hands or iq. He could play third wheel handling back checking and puck battles on the dard line but not the guy who gets him going. How many times did we watch Saad make a good drive and suck defenders to him but never use that to set up Toews or Hoss? He’d either finish or Toews and Hoss would clean up because they both can play a crash style. They were great because they all supported each others physicality with more physicality. Bringing back saad to get Toews going failed cuz it was obv Hoss/Toews that made that line a beast. Bedard needs someone who can create space like saad could but who also can get him the puck once he does.
