They currently have 2 retention spots openHow many contracts can the hawks retain on this year and next?
It'll be 3 next season

Love Brady but no thanksWith all this Brady Tkachuk trade talk going on, should the Blackhawks get in on it?
Here’s what I think would be a legitimate offer…
Roster player…Philipp Kurashev
Prospects…Louis Crevier, Samual Savoie
Draft picks…Toronto’s 2024 1st rounder and an unprotected 2026 1st rounder
Hawks would a legit power forward signed til 2028
Sens would get an unprotected 1st rounder for the Gavin McKenna 2026 draft, a late 1st rounder next years draft, Kurashev for their current roster and two prospects of the same ilk as Tkachuk
What do you all think?
that is probably a fair offer. my guess is something like that would happen in the offseason when teams have more space. With all this Brady Tkachuk trade talk going on, should the Blackhawks get in on it?

On paper, it seems relatively fair. I do think you meant Toronto's pick in 2025 rightWith all this Brady Tkachuk trade talk going on, should the Blackhawks get in on it?

No. Tkachuk contract options are not good if true. With all this Brady Tkachuk trade talk going on, should the Blackhawks get in on it?

I wouldn't trade out 1st round picks until we are at least playoffs team.
Not giving up an unprotected 1st in 2026. We suck too much for that and Brady won’t help enough. Doesn’t make sense for us.With all this Brady Tkachuk trade talk going on, should the Blackhawks get in on it?

Giving up an unprotected 1st in the McKenna draft is probably the worst idea you've had since you proposed hiring Daryl Sutter as coach, maybe even worse. With all this Brady Tkachuk trade talk going on, should the Blackhawks get in on it?

I disagree alot here. If Blackhawks can land Matthew Schaefer in this draft they are in the exact position to swing for a homerun move using later draft plus prospects to acquire a legit young star to put next to Bedard. I don't know why I feel this way but Bedsy is not long for this organization if we continue to be a bottom feeder team. The kids desire and passion to win and be a star will make him leave if we dont start winning sooner rather than later.Hawks just aren't in a position to be giving up picks or potential impact prospects period.
If anything, sign a stopgap UFA of sorts, assuming Rantanen and Marner aren't options.

The center piece of the deal would be the ‘unprotected’ 2026 1st rounder…maybe adding say Lukas Reichel instead of Savoie would workOn paper, it seems relatively fair. I do think you meant Toronto's pick in 2025 right
To me, Kurashev and Crevier are pretty much throw ins and Savoie is somewhat intriguing but not the kind of guy to realistically step into the top 6 and replicate anything near what Tkachuk would.
If I'm Ottawa, the only really intriguing asset in the deal is that 26 1st or shot at McKenna. But the odds of the happening are relatively low. Now that draft looks to be pretty stacked and there might be a great player available with that pick but if I'm the Ottawa GM, I might be fired before I get the chance to make it. And yeah, somehow I'm convinced the lottery balls will not let McKenna end up there. I'm telling you he's gonna end up in Pittsburgh...
So if I'm Ottawa and actually trade Tkachuk, I'd want the centerpiece of the deal to make a more immediate impact.
I know. My point was that the centerpiece of a deal for a player like Tkachuk cannot be a draft pick that's a year and a half away - no matter who is coming out that year. If a GM is going to let a guy like that go with years of a team friendly contract remaining, they need someone coming back that makes a more immediate impact because they might be fired before they can make that pick. The center piece of the deal would be the ‘unprotected’ 2026 1st rounder…maybe adding say Lukas Reichel instead of Savoie would work
