LTIR chucky? Ok, NOW we can pursue Karlsson lmao

We had 3.5 mil in deadline capspace before, adding chucky to that would give us a lot to work with

If Chuky is gone until playoffs.
Karlsson @ 6 and one of Beauvillier/Lizotte
Could still make a move on defense as well.

Get Penguins to retain 2.5 million
Pay a 3rd team to retain 1.5 million for a 2028/2029 2nd

Forsling - Ekblad
Mikkola - Karlsson
Kulikov - Schmidt
Vet D add

Sharks already retained once on him so he can only be retained once more.

Regardless of the tkachuk cap space we would be attempting maximum retention since ek has term and he really won't be worth his full money going forward

Haven’t watched him in Chicago, but always liked Jones.

If they take 2M minimum on him, he could be a good add IMO.

Zito knows him, if he targets Seth, all good for him.

Jones has a NTC and big contract, pretty sure the return would be okay and not that expensive to pay for us IMO.

When it comes to Tkachuk, did the USA doctors clear him for the Final game?
Sort of still confused about how he says the injury is nothing after the first Canada game.
Sits out Sweden due to "precaution" potentially.
Barely plays, but does play in the final game.

Now rumors he could be out for the season/year?

Was Dr. Nick the USA team doctor or was `Chuk trying to underplay the issue?

I only rely on HFboards for info. Never had a twitter account.

One thing if they LTIR for the playoffs, but if he's out till 25-26, curious if Zito sort of sees this playoffs as an "all-in" situation or just sees how the chips fall without one of their best forwards.

This, how can they justify him playing at all if it was so bad. Zito was with team USA, if he was aware of such a devastating injury I doubt he would have been allowed to play just like McAvoy.

Lets keep the hope up until they announce otherwise, we should be getting an update soon enough I'd think.

I think Tkachuk wanted to play the final game even though he was injured. Very selfish IMO.

I have to admit that I've been very disappointed by Tkatchuk during this 4 nations cup.

To me, I get why he wanted to play. Did he feel well enough to play? The docs cleared him to play?

Unless Matt forced the coaches to play him, I can't blame him for wanting to play. Most are super competitive at this level and it was for the Finals in the 4 nation event. The USA "front office" or whoever was in charge should of scratched him for Connor if he was still feeling effects from the LBI.

Meh. Their roster still sucks. See if they'll take Sourdiff instead lol. He probably could play in the NHL there.

This is a guy who played with a broken sternum - is anyone surprised? I think atheletes tend to think they can play through anything, and to be fair, we do demand that of them during the playoffs so I don't actually blame Matthew here. The line can be grey between "playable" and debillitating injury - and individuals are not always the best judge of that.

I do blame the coaches and medical staff though, and am interested how those decisions were made - thinking of what seems to have been a whole medical cluster f*** with McAvoy for instance. Zito was on the US team staff so would be interested to know if he had any input or is also thoroughly pissed off about the situation. We'll probably never know.

For those of you with more knowledge of these things, if Tkachuk is out until the playoffs, what does this mean for our cap situation? How much would we have to play with? I asked an AI and it told me that we would have $10.2m which is a decent haul...

I assume without him in the lineup though, we probably wouldn't be winning the division, and will probably end up playing either Tampa or Toronto in the first round. If we manage to Vegas this and get a good D plus maybe some scoring depth, that doesnt' seem too bad an outcome. Obviously only if he's 100% for the playoffs

Current trade deadline cap space is something like $3.6m. If Tkachuk will be in LTIR, the LTIR Pool would be his salary minus that cap space if I understand the system correctly.
