Bobby Ryan with Detroit most likely, at least I hope. I know people think he’s no good and doesn’t deserve to take up a roster spot but he’ll be good veteran depth presence who helped Zadina extremely last year not to mention Vrana out for months and we always get multiple injuries from the get go

Colorado is likely to sign Jack Johnson from his PTO. Feel free to leave your laughing emojis and gifs below.

Probably Bobby Ryan, Vrana is out for a bit.

Seeing the 2 guys picked after Crosby both on PTOs made me go back and look at the rest of the 2005 first round. The only other top 10 guy still in the league is Price (#5) and the only other first rounders are Kopitar (#11), M. Staal (#12), Oshie (#24), and Cogliano (#25).

The draft was obviously 16 years ago and the guys are ~34 so it makes sense they are dwindling, but this was the first draft after the lost season in the "new NHL" and I remember the hype was through the roof on some of these guys. Makes me feel old.

I actually think Bobby Ryan in his old age has become a pretty well-liked player. I thought he could have helped a lot of teams competing last year as a nice depth signing. It's funny - sometimes guys who, in their prime, are singled out for something (laziness, being out of shape, undisciplined, overpaid) - but in their wiser years they actually are good teammates and have just enough juice left and cost next to nothing so as to become assets with a bit of value. It would not be shocking at all to see Ryan pop in 15-16 goals this year and maybe even net the Wings a decent pick at the deadline as an uber-cheap rental for a contender with limited cap.

Unfortunately Bobby Ryan. Only because him signing likely means both Raymond and Veleno are GR bound.

Yeah I think it’s coming. Any chance Edmonton take another flyer and he switches jerseys?
I doubt it, just because we don't need his PP ability. Also our team has seen great games like that out of him before, so they might not be impressed enough in him.

On the flip side, Kassian and Archibald has an opening on the bottom six right side.

Bobby Ryan is a good mentor in Detroit. Even if that means sending a kid down (Raymond) who could be in the Calder discussion.

Lucas Raymond will be up before Xmas to stay no doubt but he and Valeno can be sent to GR to play heavy minutes and continue their development. Both have earned a spot but another 20-30 games developing before both take their spots in Detroit for years to come, won’t hurt either.
