Just a reminder about the libel rule:

13) Libel: Any posts libeling players, prospects, or hockey personnel. It's not acceptable to post that you heard Player X has a drinking/drug/sex/personal problem from a "good" source. Do not post information that can be considered defamatory without a link to a credible media source. Other forums, personal websites, hearsay, and personal testimonials are not considered credible.

Please do not accuse anyone of doping without providing a source. Any baseless accusation will be deleted.

Looks like some people here are not fully aware of how the Olympics are run.

It's technically not a single event run by a single body - the IOC. No, it's closer to a collection of separate events run at the same time in the same place. Each venue is run by said sport's respective global body. The track & field events are run by the IAAF, and they have absolutely NOTHING to do with Olympic hockey that's being played two years apart, run by the IIHF.

Currently, WADA is pushing the IAAF to shelve Russia from their competitions, which may lead to a ban from Olympic track & field events. However, since there hasn't been a peep suggesting that, say, Russian swimmers, wrestlers, skiers or hockey players are in doping trouble, WADA is not pushing FINA, FILA, FIS or IIHF from banning the Russians, meaning they're still free to participate to said events in the Olympics.

So why is this discussed on a hockey forum again, since for as long as no one is accusing the Russian NHLers or KHLers of using illegal substances, there is no risk whatsoever that Russia couldn't send their hockey team in 2018.

Sadly open discussion about possible doping problem in sports is not allowed. I believe sports are way more dirty than just actually caught dopers, I dont think any one will use this as source, it's my point of view.

Again, Russia getting caught now shows there is politics behind this, but I still believe they actually have doped.

No, they just have a bad record with doping in track & field over the past few years. Did you forget how they didn't send any walkers to this year's World Championship?

The idea that the Russian hockey team would be banned from the Olympic Games because some race walkers have violated doping rules is absurd.

nhl fanboys just want that so all the Russians won't leave the nhl if buttman doesn't allow players to go.

That's great, too bad it doesn't answer my question. I will try it again since you didn't get it the first time.

IF the Russians are banned from the next 2 Olympics. I do not care whether the report is legit or if there s really any possibility of Russia being banned. But, to make you happy I will re-phrase. "In the very slim chance Russia is banned from the next 2 olympics, including the 2018 winter games", is that better? Does that wording make you happy? Anyways, in the very slim chance Russia is banned from the next 2 Olympics, INCLUDING the mens ice hockey team, THEN will Ovechkin stop mouthing off about how he is going to play for Russia even if the NHL says they are not going?

This is a better question. Why would Russia be banned from the Winter Olympics for doping within its track and field program?

Or why would they be banned from other venues in the Summer Olympics either...

In case people are not clear about this, the IAAF has suspended the Russian track and field federation.

This has no effect on other sports, unless of course Russia gets pissed off and boycotts the Olympics. Or something.

Meh, we already know Carey Price is going to lead TC to another Gold regardless of the Russians presence (or absence). God bless.

I don't see how this affects ice hockey. Actually I'm quite certain it won't. By the 2018 Olympics this have been sorted out anyway.
