Joel Quenneville - Much maligned and deservedly so, he is one of the best coaches in NHL history. Does he deserve a second chance? Even if he does should it be with Boston?

Gerard Gallant - Very successful Vegas coach got a team low on talent to the Finals. His teams play fast, lunch pail hockey.

Mike Sullivan - Don’t know if he’ll be available but it seems like Pittsburgh is frustrated. Two time Cup champ understands the value of mismatches and is not afraid to play ‘talent’ on the third line.

Other suggestions? Sacco? Leach?

Well the Oilers coach came right from AHL hockey to Stanley Cup finals so there could be a good one there.Marco Sturm is there :sarcasm:
Ex Wild head coach Dean Evason never won a playoff rd in 5 seasons but he had great regular season record.Sound familiar? Difference with him and Monty though was his wild teams played better in own end.The numbers don't lie.Jay Woodcroft won 2 playoff rds and only 46.Lots of option besides this too.

Hell no to Quenneville. I don't care about people claiming witch hunt or whatever nonsense opinions are out there, the man willingly looked away while one of his players was being abused. Do not want that around the team and i can bet given the strong leadership qualities in the room, they won't either. Then again, the clowns running the show tried to sign Mitchell Miller and just assumed no one would notice.

Gallant i don't think is a good fit. The guy managed to get fired from 3 different head coaching jobs in 8 seasons. Good early results but appears to wear out his act very, very quickly.

The options i would look at;

Jay Leach - Was a highly touted AHL coach the Bruins know well to the point he was in the running for Seattle's head coaching job. Already in the org so while it's kind of a nepo hire it's not one i would totally hate?

Todd McLellan - if your first reaction is "ew he's boring," you would be totally correct. McLellan's 1-3-1 system is the definition of boring. What it does do however, is rely on the strengths the Bruins currently have with a better than average defense and strong goaltending along with a bit of crash and bang. Might be the only way to get anything out of this roster as its currently constructed.

Either that or you go off the board and get someone promising from the AHL level. Marco Sturm is a name being thrown around that unironically might not be an awful fit.

It would be Leach, I'm pretty sure. At least for an in-season move. Anyone else worth a damn is under contract somewhere else.

Quenneville is radioactive toxic and also old. Maybe if Sully were available I'd take another kick at the can. I suspect they'll want to go younger though.

David Quinn
I thought about Quinn too, he was a finalist when Monty was hired, but since then Monty set the regular season wins record and Quinn was fired in San Jose, so I don't think they could sell replacing Monty with Quinn.

That said, I do think that if Mike Sullivan was available, Quinn could be hired as his assistant. Quinn is going to assist Sullivan on Team USA's 4Nation team.

Todd McLellan is an interesting fit. I don't like that he hasn't won a Cup or even been to the finals.

Personally I’d give this whole situation until at least thanksgiving.

It’s been 10 games. Let them make some internal adjustments over the next three weeks and then if it’s still not going well then it’s time to make some real decisions.

I don't think most are expecting it right this moment. I know i'm not

I do see where others are coming from as well. When the guy who is supposed to have an answer comes out and goes "i have no answers" that usually a sign the end is near for that person in particular. Philly has been hot garbage, already have a talent deficit and you can't even manage a single goal?

True it hasn’t looked good, but it’s the same old song for all coaches under Sweeney. 2-3 years and canned.

Mike Sullivan seems to be universally despised among Pens fans. Its weird that he is seen as upgrade for other teams.
