Post your 2025 draft list

Ain't that hot a take to have Hagens outside the top 5 anymore!
I suppose not, but I still wouldn’t have Frondell, Eklund, or McQueen over Hagens so I don’t know if this is a shining moment of vindication for you. Especially since you didn’t have Desnoyers, whom I would actually consider over Hagens, in your top-10.

What makes you put O'Brien so high?

What makes you put O'Brien so high?
The combination of his height, playmaking, stickhandling and quick hands.

I believe he had the highest passing completion rate at 94 percent. And his high danger pass stat was also one of the highest also.

Even though most of his points came on the PP. In the NHL this is not a negative, as most teams seem to struggle score on special teams. If a team was ranked 20th on the PP. And due to one player, that ranking improves to 14th as an example. It could be the difference between out of the playoffs and securing a WC spot.

Comparing O'Brien to Martone. They are both tall, have quick hands and have good playmaking capabilities. But O'Brien is a center, more than 7 months younger and his motor and pace seems like a notch better than Martones. Martones stock seems to be dipping as of late.

While I disagree with a lot of your perceptions, I really respect that your list is honest.

The way I ranked my list is

- Pace, quick twitch, gifted hands and ability to process the game quickly
- Motor, two way game, potential
- Size, skating and accomplishments/recency bias

What should stand out from top 10 picks compared to the rest of the draft imo - are exceptional hand eye co-ordination, motor/stamina, decision making and clutch qualities.

I completely respect that, just wanted to hear your opinion on the player since you put him so high.

In my own opinion, not to call you out, he is a PP specialist, who does rely on his teammates alot to rack up his points, which is a player you don't want at 3rd overall. He was also playing on a team that scored an absolute ton of PP goals...which, do you trust necessarily, especially since he wasn't even the one scoring the goals?

I doubt Lardis scores 71 without O'Brien playmaking.

O'Brien also netted 32 goals. He has a good shot and nifty scoring moves. Checkout his shootout goals.

When you say a PP specialist. I'm just not sure why its considered a bad thing. How many teams in the NHL suck on the PP? Most of the bottom teams are no good at it.

O'Brien 5 v 5 could improve as he gains more mass and skating improves.

He is still only 17.

Kudos on putting together a creative list...but don't enter any draft picking contests using it ;)
