Team has the 2nd highest strength of schedule in the league for the rest of their games.

If they move more pieces, the wheels could really fall off here
Keep Laviolette imo.

I love the way it's going.

I'd love another flier on a high pick being the team's Messiah.

I know we've been down that road, but it's a roll of the dice.

Look at the Devils draft picks since 2011. I don't think a team in the world has wasted more top 10 picks but one of them was finally Jack Hughes.

Too lazy to read through the GDT, but I loved when Joe called Igor out for going to the locker room, and not staying out to support the team after being pulled!

There was no injury right? It was just Igor being a drama queen?
An $11,500,000.00 drama queen !

Yeah well, unfortunately McKenna isn't eligible this year.

I don't think their high picks have been bad.

Bouchard is great. Broberg is a decent player. Draisaitl is Draisaitl. RNH is a good player. Nurse is overpaid but he's a piece for them. Hall just couldn't stay healthy. The only real busts are Puljujarvi and Yakupov.

None of Zacha, Larsson, Holtz, Smith, McCleod, or Nemec are currently playing for the Devils.

We talk a lot about them doing a "real rebuild" but not a lot of their team came from the draft outside of their biggest pieces.

Those are the kinds of building blocks we've lacked.

Makar was a #4. You never know what's out there.
I like the tippy top end C isnt available. Means no shortcuts.

Take the PF wing or Schaefer. Suck again and McKenna. THEN you've got some foundational elite talent to put all of Drury's workers bees and gritty mcgrits around.

Recycle Fox for a younger high end D and another high end piece since 30 year old Adam Fox is probably dead at that point. Get the timelines aligned so again, no shortcuts.

If they didn't land a generational talent in McDavid, that team is still in the dumps along with Buffalo.

How many 1st overall picks did they have post-lockout compared to us as a franchise as a whole?

McKenna is a surefire #1. You can't bank on getting that. He's also not a center!

We have no idea what Hagens or anybody else is. I agree that Hagens isn't some McDavid-level guarantee but 6th and 7th rounders have become Hall of Famers.

I'd be fine with any of Hagens, Schaefer, or Martone, but I'm leaning towards not the wing, because it isn't a need and nobody in this draft is a guarantee.

Jersey is still in the dumps if they don't get Hughes.

Also, the Devils have won the lottery more than any team since the lottery exists.

I’d be all over Schaefer with pick 2-4 if we’re lucky enough to draft then. If he were born 12 days later, he would be in the 2026 draft. Dude looked slick af in the WJC until he ate the post.
