From DVM in GDT...

I wondered about that. He seemed irritated with the officials that he wasn't getting calls earlier, I wonder if that sparked it. It's the one part of his game I really don't like though.

He hasn't gotten a lot of calls but he goes down easy and will give Kesler a run for his money in leading the team in dives.

I think Kesler has been pretty clean so far. One call (I think in Detroit?) I think he collapsed a bit extravagantly but he was legitimately fouled as well.

I personally find it tiresome having to overcome the stigma of being a Ducks fan when I try to have a hockey conversation on the hockey trips I take. Things like this aren't helpful. YMMV.

Well here's a great idea: Send me on those trips, instead. I get a free trip, you don't have to be embarrassed, everybody wins!

I'll even make sure duckaroosky doesn't kill anyone!

I was at the game tonight, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Ducks played like ass. If we played like that against one of the better teams, that would be a guaranteed loss. Freddy looked great again though at least. Still, give Gibson a shot against the Blue Jackets and see how well he does.

I didn't get to watch the 2nd or 3rd periods. But Perry is currently the points (10) and goals (8) leader (tied for both actually), while Getzlaf leads the league in assists (8), and of course Freddie leads the league in wins (6... in a row).

P.S. NHL.com headline: "Six-Quack"

Hmm. I'll need references regarding your ability to control Duckaroosky. Have you spent any time wrestling gators? Taming lions? Performance art involving fire ants?

U should take him up on this DVM. Something tells me he's perfectly fine traveling by bus, could be pretty cheap.

So I know things are going great and all, but Nate Thompson's performance is a little concerning. Did Bob do his homework on this guy before giving him 3 years? I don't like what he has brought and would rather have Winnik/Perreault centering the 4th line. I don't care if Thompson is above average at faceoffs, that doesn't make up for his incompetence at everything else. This doesn't appear to be the player Bob thought he was getting. Honestly, him and Etem are the weak links right now and I wouldn't mind them sitting Thompson down for Wagner for a game or 2.

I find it odd that he was touted as a big hitter and heart and soul player. 7 games in and I haven't seen anything remotely close to that

Are we watching the same player? He's playing exactly how I expected him to play. Hard-working, nothing fancy, but tough on the puck. He actually reminds me a lot of Winnik except he's a center.

Also, Bob didn't give him 3 years, we traded for him.

And truthfully, our 4th line isn't a liability in any way shape or form. Cohesive unit, that has had some great shifts, giving our top lines a chance to catch their collective breaths...while being able to mete out punishment, if needed.

Anaheim always plays down to their opponents. Or underestimate who they're playing and kick their own ***** into shape the second half. I wouldn't worry too much

First fourth line we've run that resembles our 07 4th unit. I don't mind. They're doing their jobs.

Jackman is more useful than Parros was, Thompson does most of what Marchant did outside of the occasional production (at least so far), Etem doesn't replicate May's nastiness but he brings more speed and forechecking IMO

He's signed for 3 years is my point. I haven't seen him be tough on the puck like you said

Sorry AD, but I have no idea what you're watching. Thompson looks fine.

Maybe I'm off base here, but he turned the puck over a couple times tonight, and to me just hasn't been good enough with the puck...I just think it would be nice to have someone a little more skilled on the 4th...I mean that line doesn't look remotely dangerous as far as scoring goes...maybe I'm just used to being spoiled by having Bonino on the 4th line

Behindthenet agrees he's been really, really bad. So far

Yeah I'm seeing a different player in Thompson than what you're describing. But yeah Bonino was a better option there

That's exactly what you are (no offense). How often do teams have a 4th line center that can put up 40+ points? Almost never. Thompson is a standard 4th line center that forechecks hard, provides grit, kills penalties, and wins faceoffs at a mediocre rate, and that's all we really need him to do. Those turnovers tonight? Hell, everybody makes turnovers even the holy man himself, Getzlaf... I wouldn't put too much stock into a few turnovers in one game. The 3 year contract? It's only at $1.6M per. That can be easily traded if we need to.

Do like Bob Murray, and wait 25 games before you form any opinions. :sarcasm:

Well that was an awful performance, defensive turnovers for everyone. At least we pulled out the win.

Getzlaf 2 goals and 8 assists, what does he think this is.....2010?

I'd much rather Nate Thompson match up with Mike Richards or Jarrett Stoll in the playoffs than even a Nick Bonino, personally.

Its a playoff type move made to give us some grit, and also some PK and Faceoff ability, ALA Marchant.

This is also an odd stretch to judge a guy like Thompson on. Mostly against Eastern teams and no real rivals. That's when you'll notice a guy like him, not against Buffalo this early in the season.

except for that stint last night where the Ducks got the Sabres hemmed in for a good 2-3 minutes and changed lines a couple times, I think they played just average. Freddie bailed the team tonight and frankly should have been the first star.
