I wondered about that. He seemed irritated with the officials that he wasn't getting calls earlier, I wonder if that sparked it. It's the one part of his game I really don't like though.
From DVM in GDT...
He hasn't gotten a lot of calls but he goes down easy and will give Kesler a run for his money in leading the team in dives.
I personally find it tiresome having to overcome the stigma of being a Ducks fan when I try to have a hockey conversation on the hockey trips I take. Things like this aren't helpful. YMMV.
Well here's a great idea: Send me on those trips, instead. I get a free trip, you don't have to be embarrassed, everybody wins!
I'll even make sure duckaroosky doesn't kill anyone!

Yeah... good luck buddy.

Hmm. I'll need references regarding your ability to control Duckaroosky. Have you spent any time wrestling gators? Taming lions? Performance art involving fire ants?
So I know things are going great and all, but Nate Thompson's performance is a little concerning. Did Bob do his homework on this guy before giving him 3 years? I don't like what he has brought and would rather have Winnik/Perreault centering the 4th line. I don't care if Thompson is above average at faceoffs, that doesn't make up for his incompetence at everything else. This doesn't appear to be the player Bob thought he was getting. Honestly, him and Etem are the weak links right now and I wouldn't mind them sitting Thompson down for Wagner for a game or 2.
I find it odd that he was touted as a big hitter and heart and soul player. 7 games in and I haven't seen anything remotely close to that
Are we watching the same player? He's playing exactly how I expected him to play. Hard-working, nothing fancy, but tough on the puck. He actually reminds me a lot of Winnik except he's a center.
Also, Bob didn't give him 3 years, we traded for him.
I was at the game tonight, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Ducks played like ass. If we played like that against one of the better teams, that would be a guaranteed loss. Freddy looked great again though at least. Still, give Gibson a shot against the Blue Jackets and see how well he does.
And truthfully, our 4th line isn't a liability in any way shape or form. Cohesive unit, that has had some great shifts, giving our top lines a chance to catch their collective breaths...while being able to mete out punishment, if needed.

Sorry AD, but I have no idea what you're watching. Thompson looks fine.
He's signed for 3 years is my point. I haven't seen him be tough on the puck like you said
Maybe I'm off base here, but he turned the puck over a couple times tonight, and to me just hasn't been good enough with the puck...I just think it would be nice to have someone a little more skilled on the 4th...I mean that line doesn't look remotely dangerous as far as scoring goes...maybe I'm just used to being spoiled by having Bonino on the 4th line
I'd much rather Nate Thompson match up with Mike Richards or Jarrett Stoll in the playoffs than even a Nick Bonino, personally.
Its a playoff type move made to give us some grit, and also some PK and Faceoff ability, ALA Marchant.
