Don't be surprised if Lou goes really hard after Ryane Clowe. He's liked him for a long time from what I hear and has apparently set his eyes on him this year. Don't know if something will happen, but that's one guy Lou wants really badly.

would love clowe here. don't know what he's worth though.

Ottawa Sun is saying Florida might not have money for Weiss and could trade him at the deadline. Not really sure how Ottawa knows that, though.

I think that's Garrioch isn't it? If so, it's probably just speculation at this point. I'd be surprised if the Panthers didn't try to lock up Weiss, but if they are out of the playoff hunt, I could see them wanting to get some return for him.

Weiss should get a pretty nice contract now with Zajac off the market and Getzlaf looking like a strong bet to stay in Anaheim although it looks like he will more and more at least go to FA to see what else is out there.

I have to say, even with guys like Lupul, Zajac, Edler re-signing already, this is a pretty interesting crop of UFAs to be this year, with several Devils (Clarkson, Elias, Zubrus) among the list added below as well as some older guys that we'll have to see if they stay in the NHL or not (Visnovsky, Backstrom, Timonen).

-Corey Perry
-Ryan Getzlaf
-Jarome Iginla
-Stephen Weiss
-Scott Hartnell
-Nathan Horton (Concussion risk, but intriguing)
-Ryane Clowe
-Tobias Enstrom
-Derek Roy
-Mike Ribeiro
-Michael Ryder
-Clarke Macarthur
-Alex Semin
-Ryan Whitney
-Ian White
-Jordan Leopold
-Ladislav Smid
-Kari Lehtonen
-Jimmy Howard

We need to sign Semin if we can't trade for him this season.

Semin - Zajac - Kovy line would be so epic to watch.

I'd be interested in Ryder and MacArthur. Everyone else will either get overpaidor doesn't fit our needs. If we can snatch up Clowe on a nice deal, like 3-3.5 million I'd be all for it.

His contract would epic too. Yeaahh no.

Really? He is one of the most under appreciated players in the league. His best offer was only a 1 year @ 7 million. I would be fine if Lou gave him a 3 years 18 million deal if he puts up 60+ pts this season (prorated). I think Kovy would do wonders for Semin's career.

I'd be ok with a 3 year deal, anything longer I'd be really nervous about giving him.

I don't know if the Devils would do Semin-Zajac-Kovalchuk. First of all, that's three righties on one line and, second of all, DeBoer loves to have lefties on the left side and righties on the right side.

6 mil cap hit for a 1 way player? 3 years for a guy who couldn't even get a 2 year deal?

Semin is far from underappreciated. He's extremely overrated. He has a top 5 shot in hockey, no doubt, but he average or below average in every other aspect.

Good point. I just would like to see Kovalchuk play with a player that has a shot like Semin.

Semin is good both way and bought into a very defensive system last year. People should really watch him play.

Or read this at least.

semin would be a fine pickup but not for that money. if you're relying on him to be the leader of your team good luck but he's definitely a serviceable defensive player. that part of his game has been blown way out of proportion and we all know what he's capable of offensively. don't really see it happening tho as we could have signed him this offseason and chose to go with our youngsters. would be exciting to watch him and kovy go to work tho

That article pretty much explained to me that his production drops when he is taken away from Ovechkin and Backstrom, and he needs the right situation with the right teammates and the right coach and the right lockerroom and the right position and the right stick to succeed. Basically we need to cater to him.

Yeah, no thanks. There's a reason he only got a 1 year deal. There's a reason why he was getting benched regularly in Washington, even in games they were losing. He is not a great team player, nor a great two way player despite what a blog named Angus Certified, a very reputable sports blog name, wants to say about it.

You need to learn how to read if that is what you get out of the article. Semin played 473 NHL regular season games. How many of them did you watch? 10?

I'd still like Semin in a Devils jersey. We could use the release of Semin.

No Semin please, I did want him during the summer but that would have been a panic movie. Too much money and he is wildly inconsistent. We dont need that.

The release of Semin sounds so weird.

Ryan O`Reilly please.

There has been no resolution with the contract dispute between Colorado F Ryan O'Reilly and Avalanche GM Greg Sherman. Since the two sides haven't been able to get anywhere, there are whispers the Avs have been offering O'Reilly, 21, who had 18 goals and 37 assists last season, around to see what they can get in return. The asking price is a young forward and a second-round pick
Get right on it, Lou.

When I interviewed him in Prague, he had no idea what`s going to happen, but he was hopeful and expected some progress soon. It`s been three weeks since then. Guess Kroenke hasn`t changed a bit, cheap ****er.
