Never underestimate the shortsightedness and greed of hockey executives. You see it across the board. The tournament organizers no doubt thought the sheep will pay a steep price no questions asked.

There will ne questions asked how wise was it to have it in Toronto and Montreal.

And of course it's better to have 2000 tickets sold at ridiculous prices than 15 000 at decent prices...

Montreal obviously isn't a hockeytown, they just care about the Canadiens.

Really?

Let's put things into context.

True, most quebecois are not passionate about team Canada. For an obvious reason. They encourage them but, meh.

Yet, despite of that, despite having no team representing them, Montreal's 2015 average attendance was the 5th biggest in the tournament history.

Only one other nation attracted bigger crowds.

Not so bad...

And it's for junior players who are not paid and it's not even the best junior players so please. This is complete nonsense. Another reason why less and less kids get into hockey.

Montreal 2015 attendance????? Was a complete disaster, maybe you took the number combined with Toronto which were great there. Montreal had 80% empty seats each game in 2015 and it's even worst this year.
No junior team has ever succeeded here. It's a one town team that's it people don't even follow Stanley Cup playoffs. And almost nobody plays hockey on outside rinks anymore here. 10x more play soccer.

I am sure 6/7 year olds think I am not going to get paid so why player.

Actually I'm happy too see people are not stupid enough to pay the money they ask to watch meaningless round robin games.

Questions asked? It's a failure for the 2nd time in 3 years, which questions? They wouldn't have comeback here in 15 years + anyway.

Hockey Canada was dumb enough to put it 2 years out of 3 in Montreal in the first place where there's has never been any interest in junior hockey and not much for this tournament and then both times Hockey Canada have been stupid enough to ask completely ridiculous prices for tickets which people probably wouldn't have bought at 10-15$ anyway...

What future events? We don't want future events and wouldn't have gotten one anyway in the near future even if it was a success.
Ottawa was great in 2009 did they have another one soon after?

And Ottawa in 2009 had lots of tickets at decent prices and being a real great hockey city helped. Montreal had none of those two.

Ottawa has been rewarded with many exh games and smaller events.

Rewarded with exhibition games and smaller events? Really Rewarded????????? How about hosting it again?

The reality is the idiots at Hockey Canada thought let's put it in the two biggest markets the two biggest arenas and let's make lots of easy money. It worked somewhat in Toronto but withtout surprise completely failed here. Kids can play an extra tournament instead of going as a team to one game!

And they obviously didn't learn from their 2015 mistakes. Are those people supposed to be genius in marketing?
