The Oilers get nowhere near the Finals last season without that JHB line or the PK. I'm not shocked to see you gloss over it though.

The Oilers go nowhere if their bottom six gets caved.

He is massively overpaid for this season and at an age where he is likely in a steep decline. That was a bad bet on the Oilers part, but so was their entire off-season, every bet they made last summer has blown up in their face.

And the Oilers PK was still good in the playoffs last year even when Henrique was injured (which he was for a big stretch of the post season). I don't attribute that all to him or one line combination. It's more like Coffey/Knob's system was operating at a really high level because the group had full buy in to it and months and months to work on it.

Henrique and RNH are valuable role players who impact multiple areas of the game. I think Henrique still has another gear, but as us, he's a guy who doesn't give up a lot 5v5. That's valuable considering he plays almost entirely away from scoring lines.

RV is the guy I could see us moving on from at the deadline simply because we haven't seen the fireworks from him that were expected.
We have 4 more years of RNH, at 5M he has to bring more than ‘valuable role player”.

Henrique is invisible for the most part, at 35 his value is what exactly?

RV, atleast he tries, he goes to the dirty areas, gets creamed, gets up and then takes a stupid penalty. Rinse and repeat.

These 3 cost north of 12M, what a waste.

We need a goalie but I would look elsewhere. This would be a desperate trade to send MS for Gibson.

That’s said I’m not attached to Savoie, we can and should move him if it makes this team better in the near term need a player that’s more than a rental).

I don’t know how often it needs to be said but this team is in a win now era. No one gives a damn how bare the cupboards are when Leon and 97 are in the final years of their contracts. At that point, they may not even be here.

Maybe if Ducks retain 50%. Would rather take a chance on Vejmelka. Do worry a lot that age and injuries have slowed Gibson down.

Henrique is +6 5v5 and has the lowest GA/60 of any player on the team by a decent margin. He's not sexy and he's definitely a bit pricey for the role but he's done his job IMO.

RNH supporters are just blind homers at this point.

You’re bang on with Henrique. I do think RNH has lost a step this season.

No. I get that goaltending is a problem, but Savoie brings much needed youth to the lineup.

I might be tempted if Gibson were more of a sure thing. I don't think goalies are voodoo but I do think that it is unclear if success with one team would translate elsewhere. The ideal is to be able to try a player out before committing to them. But even then I might say no.

Heck that's not just with goalies. Look at Rantanen's struggles

But, we just lost Holloway and McLeod. We can't keep bleeding youth like this. It's not just for the future. We've turned into an old team, which can hurt us in the short term too

He's on pace for a 23 goal, 54 point season. So yeah, there's some regression there, and I'd like for him to be a bit more assertive 5v5, but ultimately that's not way out of line with what he was before. And it's decent enough value at 5.125 million or whatever his cap is.
