Poll: Predators' biggest rival

Which team do you consider the Preds' biggest rival?

  • Total voters

  • Poll closed .
Its not the Wild, Avs, Sharks, Wings, Pens or Stars.

Jets are up there but too new.

Ducks would be my answer if we were in the same division but we aren't.

Hawks are logical but I don't think their fans really hate us the way we hate them so that kind of defeats the purpose of a "rivalry". Plus I like Chelsea Dagger so sue me.

That leaves the Blues. We hate each other. We're close geographically. Their fans are insufferable and they probably feel the same about us.

My answer is the Blues.

This is the correct answer.

we don't really have a rival.

and this isn't 2006. just because we think a team is a rival doesn't mean they are. go ask any of these teams who their biggest rival is. i don't know if any of them say nashville except maybe winnipeg. i hate STL and they just won the cup. combined with their fans, they are definitely up top.

I think Ducks fans would consider us a rival. Maybe not a biggest rival, but a rival nonetheless.

Yeah Winnipeg might say we're their biggest rival. They might say Minnesota because of the close proximity, I don't know. We don't have long histories so it makes sense. I think STL and Anaheim fans hate us but they're preoccupied with hating another team more than us.

with all recent events and timelines into consideration, it's the jets and blues. then the stars and Avalanche.

I agree that this is the current situation!

Originally, I would pick Detroit. They were the big brother rivals until that season when the Preds won 5 of 6 regular season games. A few years after that, the DRW were moved to the Eastern Conference. I think that Chicago was the big rival for a few years, then the above happened.

I don't know who to vote for. I don't think we have a true rival. A lot of teams fans hate us as fans (because they're totally jealous they aren't as awesome as us) but still don't consider the team as a rival.

My hate level goes up and down for certain teams, mostly depending on that teams current state.

I don't hate Dallas or Colorado, yet. My hate for Chicago and Winnipeg is down a little. My hate for St Louis is back up high.

I still can't think of any reason to hate St.Louis? Except jealousy? Or is it just you have to interact with their fanbase and I never have? Winnipeg, Anaheim, Chicago I get... there have been some heated moments on the ice, at least. Not enough for a "true" long-term rivalry to develop, but still, occasional sparks. St.Louis? I'm still not exactly feeling it... ? :dunno:

I've hated their fans for upwards of 20 years and while they've got good ones like everyone else, they always seemed to have a sense of entitlement over us despite accomplishing nothing with a three decade head start.

But I guess now they can at least say they have one.

This is pretty much where I am. I can't think of any team I legit despise as a result of my association with the Preds. I can't stand the Pens, but that's mostly a Jackets/regional thing; the SCF was just the cherry on top of the hate sundae. And my grumpiness towards the Wild has been somewhat mitigated by their continued stretch of mediocrity. So, I dunno.

Voted for the Pens regardless, tho, so they'd have at least a vote. They need to be hated more.

Yeah I don't really see the argument for St. Louis being our biggest rivalry. I just moved from St. Louis after living there for 5 years and I've been to a lot of games in their stadium as an away fan and I never felt that rivalry sort of feeling outside of the fact we're in the same division. Most of the hatred seemed to be geared towards Subban too so I think there's even less of a rivalry now that he's gone. I can also say none of the many Blues fans I'm friends with considered us a top rival at all. For them their rivals are Chicago and then everyone else in the division is tied for a quite distant 2nd.

Yeah, you have to interact with their fanbase....

St Louis fans in our arena are unbearable and have been now for decades.
The Hawks have always been the default "worst away crowd" for us but I describe it this way....

The Hawks bring a larger total number of fans, so as a result there will be some really annoying and obnoxious ones. The Blues don't bring as many total fans, but the percentage of them who are obnoxious morons is higher.

This wasnt always the case. Pre Kane-Toews when the Hawks were awful they didnt have many fans in the arena and they never talked trash. I remember my kids wanting us to go to Hawks games because the Preds would almost always win and the arena was never crowded. But I used to stay at the Hilton when wed come down for games and every year the Blues fans would bring about 5000 people and rent out almost the entire hotel. They were extremely obnoxious.

I live in Chicago at the moment and attend every preds game here, and let me tell you even just wearing anything Preds related is highly terrifying. These Hawks fans are BRUTAL

It is going to evolve over the next few years... hard to say for sure, but it looks like Chicago is coming back up, and maybe the Jets will fade back a little... or not. Dallas is coming up too. And Avs... and Blues are champs... we could see a different poll result next year and a different one again the year after... :dunno:
