How is it not going to be Toronto/Ottawa?

Ottawa is locked into WC1.
Panthers can’t win the Atlantic now it’s down to Leafs or Tampa. Leafs are 4 points ahead of Tampa.

Yeah Tampa could still win the Atlantic but with Toronto already 4 points ahead in crunch time…

I’d say with 95% certainty it will be Leafs/Sens in round 1.

I’m betting Leafs and Sens fans know this and are getting ready for each other.

Will beat the Leafs.. In a game or two I could buy. In the series? Oh my goodness lmao
Why is it that outrageous, and a oh my goodness, and a LMAO ?
Leafs will be the favourites,
Sens won the season series 3-0, which doesn’t translate to playoffs, but it does mean leafs have to figure out strategically wise, why they were losing.

Since December 1

Sens are 6th in NHL in points
Leafs are 7th
Flipped for points percentage

Since March 1 (last quarter of the season, heading into playoffs).

Sens are tied for first in the NHL with the Blues in points, but third in points percentage, leafs 10th in points and 9th in points percentage.

The reasoning is the Sens are just another game to us and the Sens treat it like game 7 of the finals. When the Leafs actually engage the gap will be obvious

In terms of their possible opponent, I’m sure they would have rather faced Ottawa than Tampa or Florida.

What happened 20 years ago isn’t relevant. What’s happened the last 5 games is more relevant, but also not very relevant, IMO.

Should be a good series, actually. I think we match up better against Toronto, than we do against Tampa or Florida, but that doesn’t make it an easy series. A lot of pressure is on Toronto this series, and not a lot is on Ottawa, so we’ll see how it turns out

I think both Toronto and Ottawa will be happy to face each other when the alternative is Tampa or Florida.

I also think both wish they could be in the metro side of the bracket

Your forum has the pre-series talk thread already open, and Leaf fans are the overconfident ones?
What does that have to do with anything? Our position in the standings is set in stone. You guys have a 92% chance of winning the division, going up to 99%+ if you win today.

Still, the series aren't set yet.

A season is 82 games lol, always enjoy these 'Since x date' type factoids. Since March 17, the Leafs are first in points and point %, while the Sens are 12th. Since Feb 1, the Leafs are 4th in points %, Ottawa 11th. See how that works?

They treat it like a divisional/provincial rival, and a 4 point swing game, like all teams should do lol.

Just like the battle of Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, Alberta etc teams do.

You dodged the question , why is it that crazy?
I just showed you the stats, since March 1 and December 1.

No they don't and you know it. They treat it like a game where Leaf fans take over their arena and they hear go leafs go chants. They treat it like they are the younger brother begging for the scraps of the media coverage from Toronto based sports giants. It means something personal to them.

The Leafs perspective, Senators have been a non playoff team and non threat including most games of this season between us. It's just another game.

I don’t see much delusional overconfidence from Leaf fans, we all know the recent history. But as fans we hope for the best, otherwise what’s the point of cheering for a sports team?
I always cheer the team playing against Leafs, its much more fun

I WANT them to lose in the first round, but I think they go deeper.

They’ve never been the deepest team but they’ve been deep enough if their best players played well and health held up.

A lot of it was mental imo and they should have tried a different coach much sooner. I could see Berube being a big boost.

As much as I’d love to see Sens beat the Leafs I think they’d loose in 6/7 Will give the Leafs a good battle though. Looking forward to the series
