"No wrong answer" There's definitely a wrong answer there
How can there be when it is about what matters most to YOU? I've seen a lot of stuff over the last several years from Leafs nation that I just can't believe. Leafs lose and you're reading tweets from fans of a particular player saying they don't care about the loss because "x" scored tonight. I've seen that over and over for years from this fanbase so it's surprising to read that actually winning a series matters more. I love to see it, just didn't expect it.

Weird poll. No one will vote for Matthews here.
Hold my beer....

J/k, but seriously, why not both?

I won't vote because of that. I want to see Auston win another Rocket and hit 60. I also want the Leafs to get out of the 1st round and go all the way.

Don't see the need to even choose one or the other.

I would bet that if the Leafs win a series and then lose in Round 2 vs. Auston hitting 60 (assuming he never does again) that 40 years from now, everyone here would remember Auston hitting 60 more than they would the Leafs winning a single playoff series.

Very, very, surprised to see the 40-to-1 split. I expected it to be a lot closer to 50-50 but am heartened that we're hungry for TEAM success. The hunger is immense for that, I see.

Let's eat.

Please don't make me think about 40 years in the future, that's a scary prospect...Although the idea of a genetically engineered catgirl girlfriend keeps me going lol.

Obviously for sure. My response was to the question posed.

There can be a wrong answer when one values individual success over team success. I get what you're saying, but as the poll shows 99% voting for team success.

I still remember the exhilaration i felt watching the Leafs led by McCauley and Roberts winning the 2nd round and then the nail biting conference finals v Carolina like it was yesterday, but I couldn't tell you who the top 5 point getters on the team were that year.

It would be great if Matty broke the 60 mark and yes everyone would remember it, but a guy like me who's running out of runway wants at least 1 more cup.

You won't vote because you want both? This is about what matters more to you. No preference for one of the over the other? It doesn't mean you don't want both.

I'm sure most want to see both. We all have a pecking order and some have Matthews up there close to the team accomplishment, and others, like me, have 60 way down on the list.

I understand that. I wanted to be careful to note only ONE playoff series win. I was in the building for every playoff game at Met Center when the North Stars marched to the Finals and lost to the Pens in Game 6, 8-0.

Had Dino Ciccarelli had his incredible rookie goal scoring run that season, I might remember that more than watching Jon Casey get shelled 8-0 and the Pens skating around the rink with the Cup. Without looking, I can't tell you how each series went to get to the finals. What I do remember, vividly, is Neal Broten missing a wide open net to tie it in Game 4, which may have helped the Stars go onto a 3-1 series lead... and Brian Propp's sister trying to get me to go back to her hotel room after the game. :) (Oops, the Propp's sister thing was after Game 3)

No wrong answer.

For me, Leafs winning a series is more important to me.

Auston is likely to flirt with 60 more than just this one time.

I think it'd be a lot more fun to celebrate a series win with Leafs nation than a personal achievement. Believe that team success has a much better chance of making adversarial posters bury the hatchet and unify an always divided fan base. #SerenityNow

LOL. Yes there IS a wrong answer.

Individual awards/achievements are meaningless. TEAM WINS are everything.

Eh Cup wins are everything, maybe.

Not just team wins.

When you're THIS team, and your last playoff series win was 18 years ago, in 2004, I'd argue that a series win is VERY important now. Way more important than some individual thing.

Regardless of how folks may vote now.

If Matthews hits 60 goals and the team makes it to the conference finals. In 30 years all fans wi talk about is the Matthews achievement.

A cup is a different story.

Edit: I'd still personally cheer louder for the series win than the 60 goals regardless

Did you seriously make a poll because I pointed out it was strange that you only mentioned Matthews to criticize him and ignored his highs this season?
