You think it is important to have international competition in the middle of regular season?

Just curious what the consensus is among the Leafs Board. I personally am not too excited about it, find no reason to hold in in the middle of the regular season and then condense the regular season to fit 82 games + AllStar and have playoffs done by June.

I'm indifferent. But I also don't get the scheduling. Why do they have multiple games on some days but not every night, and why is there a Monday semi-finals and a Thursday finals? It's all over the place.

The scheduling is bizarre and the fact the NHL is hosting its own tournament pretty much kills the credibility, but as I stated in a post in the 4 Nations forum we will get to see the same rosters as we'd see if this were the actual Olympics.

It won't be anywhere near as significant of course, nor as intense as these guys playing for Gold but there is potential for some really good hockey and if nothing else, McDavid & Mack on the PP? Sid & Mack playing on a line? Come on.

And it will be more intense by far than the all-star silliness. Not NHL-playoffs level intensity, but they'll be playing to win.

So yeah, I'll be watching with some skepticism but some excitement & anticipation, and I'm not making up my mind that it'll be a joke before I even see it.

All best on best international tournaments outside of Olympic games were hosted by the NHL so I don't really see any problems of it. I personally would prefer them to quit Olympic altogether and rename World Cup back to Canada Cup again, make it a true best on best event every 4 years.

More than the all star games, that’s for sure. I do think the players will take it seriously as well.

I’m also curious to see how our players perform. I have a feeling they’ll all do well, and we’ll all be wondering why they can’t do that for us during the big games.

So many star players and combinations we never get to see on the ice. It's fun to watch and of course, the USA-Canada game (maybe final too) is going to have extra spice this time around.

I think the intensity will be high too.

I am a bit, its a good preview for the Olympics next year. It's always nice to see a team with a Leaf on its Jersey win from time to time.

I am cancelling all plans when there is a Canada game. Team Canada is my #1, Leafs #2. Anything team Canada and I'm all in, u18's, WJC'S, summer showcase, whatever it is I'm all in for it.

Mostly I’m worried about injuries, and the compressed schedule isn’t worth it. They should do this in September and sacrifice some training camp, which they don’t make money on anyway.

It absolutely should be held mid season. Whenever they had tournaments in the offseason the excuse was it’s off season players aren’t at their peak.
