C-

I really like the Walman and Frederic trades, and Jones is a perfect bandaid until Kane and Fred are healthy.
Especially relative to prices paid, those two deals are A's.

But needed an upgrade in net, and banking on a 2022 Mike Smith-like post deadline turnaround is by Skinner is dumb as f**k. The fact that they also have zero depth in goal is also moronic.

Even Jarry at 50%, who can stay in the AHL. would have been better.

Tampa: Bjorkstrand, Gourde
Panthers: S.Jones, Marchand
Stars: Grandlund, Rantanen
Avs: Nelson, Coyle
Leafs Laughton, Carlo

That's 5 teams that had a better deadline than the Oilers. After the atrocious offseason that JJ put us in we couldn't afford to have 5 teams have a better deadline than us.

D+ is fair score

I like our C, LW and LD depth plus our extra F and D are much better then we had last year. Our RD, RW and especially goaltending is a weakness.

The good thing is the central and atlantic will be a blood bath so if we can make it to the WCF we might face a really beat down team.

I don't think Edmonton did enough to combat the Central. but fortunately (barring any late surprises) Vegas and LA did even less, so there is still a path to the Conference Final and who knows what happens by that point.

One things is for certain is that the depth of players that can play is pretty deep to withstand some injuries, but could be argued that depth doesn't matter much if it isn't necessarily quality depth.

We’ll be lucky to get out of the 1st or 2nd with our two sieves in net.

C: The additions we made were good, but Jackson’s blunderwork this summer limited what we could do.

Now that it’s done, it’s all on coaching to try and find some kind of system or methodology or mindset to get it to work. What we’re doing now is losing to the Kings in the first round.

Gave it a B. No good goalies moved. Feel like we got the best deals for our additions, and they both fill a need.

If Frederic plays like I think he can, and re-signs, I'll consider it a big win. If Kane can come back 100%, even better.

D.

I don’t believe what we’ve brought in moves the needle as much as others do. But I sincerely hope I’m proven wrong.

Let's hope they did enough to make the playoffs.
