Post-Game Talk: Point taken

He had a nice back check. He has moments, can't complain about a goal but it was literally a goal he fanned on and still scored. Meh still not convinced on this guy but he hasn't had many opportunities either. Nuge off the PP for a change might be worth a shot but will never happen.
You could probably score that goal. ;)

He had decent battle tonight. Thought he was in and around some plays and a bit more determination but really its game 50 and that we have to wonder how few games like this he's had its not awe inspiring. But yeah, he almost completely fanned on a wide open empty net from 10ft out. He's not inspiring with confidence.

Yeah. It was about as onesided as games get. Only the scoreline confounded that. Detroit rarely had the puck in our end. All they were doing is trying to pick locks on the high boards and look to spring breakouts. Its the only game they wanted to play. I don't really blame them but the Oilers were completely running this game. If the Oilers are shooting on Skinner its 7 goals and a runaway win. Strangely this doesn't even seem to be understood here.
Yeah Lyons just a super amazing goalie. Like Vladar, like Mrazek, like….

I like Podkolzin as a player but I'm getting pretty tired of him missing chance after chance and Arvidsson falling the ice every time. We are in February pretty much... and the only wingers with over 10 goals are RNH and Hyman
Yeah I'm really getting tired of him getting pucks, wide open, with nobody around right in front of the net and he's hacking at ice. Jebus it couldn't be possible to finish less than this guy has had with a season of Draisaitl. Maybe Leon can loan him a stick or something. Tape it to his hand too.

Arvid? I have no ideas. Wrap him in bubblewrap and go for the LTIR play. How many times a game is this guy falling down? ffs even the officials notice now and look the other way. Oh its just Arvid sliding for 2nd base again...

I’m gonna disagree on the Mcdavid attempt being fine and it being a fantastic stop. It was a slow drag across the net and slid along the ice. It was bad.

Not excusing Skinner either btw but our two attempts were amateur hour.
Agreed, and maybe its showing he has lost a step or something. He has always seemed to try and just tuck breakaways in along the ice, it's bugged me before. But he used to have the speed and hands to get the goalie so out of position it didnt matter. He needs to roof it with authority, not try and tuck it in, if he has lost a step.

Oilers goalies save pct this year: 89.90%

Opposition goalies save pct when facing the Oilers this year: 89.77%

Pretty even

...but of course the Oilers goalies workload has been 26.40 shots against per 60 while the opposition goalies have been facing 31.98 shots against per 60. A differential of over 5.5 shots per game.

Oilers goalies face the lowest high danger shots/60 in the NHL at 5.74 while the opposition goalies face the 2nd highest high danger shots/60 at 8.72

Solid game by Skinner tonight, looked a little wobbly at times but made a lot of good saves. Gave them a chance. Obviously could have been better in the shootout.

Knoblauch is starting to lose me a little bit, not really understanding some of his decisions lately. Brown on the first line is pointless and the way hes handled Jeff Skinner this season doesnt feel right. Skinners been looking good, give him a shot again next to McDavid or Draisaitl.

Flames got 2 first round talents, who got put down by douchebag Torts, for garbage and a 2nd round pick.

Sorry guys but Calgary won this trade

meh. Philly sucks and these guys will catch the flames stink soon enough. Who cares?

I feel like Skinner hasn’t been given much of a chance to show his worth. Dude is getting about 12.5 minutes per game and either getting buried in the bottom 6 or sitting in the press box. If he’s not going to get utilized on the PP then I’m not entirely sure why he’s here. This looks pretty bad on Bowman as that Holloway money went to Skinner who isn’t even being used properly (not that Holloway would be put into a better position to succeed)
