Post-Game Talk: Point taken

Disagree here. Oilers got close to 50 shots. Got goalied yet again. That was my impression anyway.

The Detroit goalie was the only reason it got to OT. Skinner was reasonable, but yet again the 2nd best goalie in the game.
You think?

Think we’ll find a way to stop being grossly out competed by shitty teams at some point soon?

Yeah...thats been apparent for a while now. They'll deny it though...lol

These PGT's arent even worth reading most times.
Just f**king noise.

Skinner made some excellent saves in this game. Not the reason they lost.
The team played yet another game where they didnt seem to care all that much about puck management and to a lesser extent D zone coverage.

A loss was inevitable.
They’re even harder to read when he actually plays bad because you still end up 100 of your posts claiming it’s not his fault.

Team just really struggles to score at points this year. We were set up with 4-1 powerplays at one point and we couldn’t get the lead. The PP in general has lost its swagger.

We gave them life with that 2-1 goal. I really just don’t like him waiving at pucks. He leaves a lot of holes open rather than just being square to the puck and being more compact. Doesn’t move well on the 2-2 or shootout goals. I’m not blaming him for the loss but he gives me anxiety watching him.

Team needed to find a way to get another goal. Take the point and move on.

Mcdavid was so off tonight. I absolutely bags the slow winding shootout move but Mcdavid can usually pull it off even when the goalie knows he wants to go backhand to that opposite post and tuck it. Usually he’s much faster to that post but he double clutched and Lyon knew exactly where he was going the whole way.
He can cut to his forehand good. Backhand not so much. He needed to barrel in on the goalie.

McDavid attempt was fine. Fantastic stop. The less said about the lil Nugey attempt the better...

But hey, look At Skinner on both shootout goals? You think he even practices these?. You think maybe he could? Too much work I guess.
I’m gonna disagree on the Mcdavid attempt being fine and it being a fantastic stop. It was a slow drag across the net and slid along the ice. It was bad.

Not excusing Skinner either btw but our two attempts were amateur hour.

We got a point on one of McDavids worst games of the year. Take it an go. Next game is Toronto on hockey night in Canada. Better show up for that one.

They aren't "worth" reading win or lose. It's just for fun, very little analysis and when there is, it's usually biased towards peoples favourites where either that player did everything to win it, singlehandedly lost the game, or is absolved of any and all blame, always.
Tough to argue with any of this. I think you nailed it.

Thankfully there are some posters that try to put a little thought into their posts instead of just repeating the same tired vitriol

I like Podkolzin as a player but I'm getting pretty tired of him missing chance after chance and Arvidsson falling the ice every time. We are in February pretty much... and the only wingers with over 10 goals are RNH and Hyman

Absolutely comical, hilarious and most of all, delusional to see Stuart Skinner getting blamed. We lose in regulation if he didn’t stand on his head.

Guess he should have somehow saved a tip a millimeter in front of his glove and a clean breakaway I guess though. For sure.

Skinner will surely get the press box after scoring again tonight. Goals = bad
He had a nice back check. He has moments, can't complain about a goal but it was literally a goal he fanned on and still scored. Meh still not convinced on this guy but he hasn't had many opportunities either. Nuge off the PP for a change might be worth a shot but will never happen.

Yeah. It was about as onesided as games get. Only the scoreline confounded that. Detroit rarely had the puck in our end. All they were doing is trying to pick locks on the high boards and look to spring breakouts. Its the only game they wanted to play. I don't really blame them but the Oilers were completely running this game. If the Oilers are shooting on Skinner its 7 goals and a runaway win. Strangely this doesn't even seem to be understood here.

All I know is that Bobby McMann will score another goal or two against us. That dude has our number

We showed up for one period

He really did seem off.
That shootout attempt might have been the weakest play on a goalie I have seen from him...maybe ever.

Honestly though IMO he hasnt seemed like his usual self for a while now.
