edit: btw was this why the board crashed?
There is no plausible reason, other than maybe Korky is finally, actually making a return to Sharks to fulfill the hopes and dreams of the rumor mill from 20+ years ago… That being said, its just a clunky on an iPhone as ever…
What would our floating-pool-chair wanna bes do if it was us considering “what is best for me?”
Ato - would this not reduces a year of career earnings because the ELC doesn't start until next year. At the momet, he may be thinking that after this ELC, he’ll be a bonafied NHLer earning a few multiples over league minimum 10-15 years down the road, so it’s life altering dineros for almost everyone. - There is also an assumption that his injuries are 1-2 weeks from clearance and we could be looking at stepping in for round 2, meaning The Cuda are presumed likely favorites in round 1 so the odds are he plays near term and this was worth something. This is a play to show the brass that he’s in it for the love of playing.
ELC - may not play until fall, which is a buzzkill for us, glory demanders. Google says he’s a marketing major. I wonder how financially minded his general sphere of influence is beyond his agent, which google says is Dean Grillo and has longstanding and interested ties with the Sharks, was even a 1991 draft pick of Los Tiberones.
DEAN GRILLO — O2K Sports Management Active players more recently in the organization include Jett Woo, Ozzy Weisblatt, Walker Duehr, and Derrick Pouliout (sp?) and take that with a gran of salt if it means anything in how he advises Poulkamp to navigate his future as all of these guys came hoping a new opportunity and none did much to hold an NHL roster spot and moved on pretty quickly. We obviously have different aspirations for Pohlkamp, more of a Colin Graf but defenseman result.
He just won the National Championship injured. He’s given the season his 110%, so its hard to fault him for picking a path that is both more financially lucrative and focuses more on being ready to impress in the fall for a better chance at cracking the opening night roster. Especially when that could mean a coulple-few extra million dineros by the time he retires.
