Marner going to demand a trade the moment his coach asks him to work hard. This team needs a care bear as the coach, we cannot offend the players even if they play like shit.
 He survived Dale Hunter and Babcock, he’ll be fine.

I'd prefer Gallant over Laviolette personally. Before anyone comes at me with "but Gallant short shelf life", I don't care about his short shelf life. His tactics/systems suit the modern NHL and the core of the team itself should have a shorter remaining shelf life than what Gallant's shelf life is (2-3 seasons).

None of the coaches available will make these guys grow some cojones. Keep the core, and keep being a one and done team till they all age out and you have to rebuild anyway. Great strategy! Like would you really re-sign Marner to another 10M plus contract? That helps us to push us forward towards a cup? Matthews at 13-14M is that really going to get us a cup anytime soon? It don't matter who the coach is as long as the core 4 are all here.

Gallant was a players coach? Lol, generally "players coaches" get longer then 2 to 3 years with each team before wearing out their welcome.

Team needs in between both with the ability to be able to adapt mid game.
He’s a blue collar coach, not a spoiled brat coach………

But whats need really need is not a system... its a motivator and a guy who will be able to push them as hard they can...

I dont think Galland is the good guy for this

For me my guy is Boucher but i would be fine with Laviolette too

Maybe the team needs new players that work hard when asked……..

With Shanny still place, our guys would Peter Horachek him right out of town.

P.S. I don't know about others but in any competitive team sports, this is the type of coaching that would work on me. Either I was guilty that I had held back or I wanted to prove I wasn't holding back. I don't know the psychology of this on someone actually so physically gifted and focused to make to the NHL level.

I would be on board with a psychopath. Give me Guy Boucher. The irony of a french guy leading the leafs to a cup is the type of "fate loves irony" story that could do it.

He is going to complain he is working too hard after clocking more minutes this year than everyone not named Sammy?
This is rich and really stupid.

Its weird, the guy has success wherever he goes and gets canned shortly after. I wonder if he just wont listen to the gm or any ideas from anyone else.

But I thought motivation was Gallants superpower and not his tactics?

This team badly needs a hardass coach, the lovey dovey approach clearly isn't motivating them. The only problem is 20 seconds into a tirade like this Mitchy would be crying on a 3-way conference with his Dad and his agent.

Ice time does not equal effort. It's like those lazy guys that spend 3 hours in the gym every day but do nothing and wonder why they don't have results.
The gym eh? Only knuckleheads train 3 hours in the gym per day.
Wasted effort. Maybe you should work harder in the first hour to cut your time by a third.
