Rangers are apparently about to sign him, so I wouldn't count on it.

We're probably at minimum a few days from hiring a GM, maybe a week. And once the GM is in place, probably at minimum a few weeks away from hiring a coach (if we do at all - new GMs often leave existing coaches in place as it allows them a scapegoat that isn't their hire in the first year or two).

I wouldn't be against it. The guy's got great offensive systems and has a great track record. Won a cup and been to the finals multiple times, when he won the cup with Carolina in 2006 he did some phenomenal coaching.

Gallant was a players coach? Lol, generally "players coaches" get longer then 2 to 3 years with each team before wearing out their welcome.

Team needs in between both with the ability to be able to adapt mid game.

Has a winning record every team he’s coached and he has a lot of playoff cred. Does check a lot of boxes and isn‘t that old. He’s an interesting option, an obvious upgrade on Keefe. We could do worse.

Has been quite successful most places he’s been, regular season and playoffs. Has a cup and has taken 3 different teams to the finals - Carolina, Philly and Nashville. Canes one of the few teams to win a cup without a legit 1D, Philly and Nashville well below the quality of normal finals teams but he still got them there. Didn’t have a good season with the Caps, but that’s also an aging team with plenty of flaws, not too concerned about that.

I’d be down, for sure. However, makes more sense to hire a GM, then have the GM pick his coach. Good chance Lavi is snatched up before we hire a GM.
