I've we keep getting Hasek-level goaltending then yeah, we'll make the playoffs. More realistically, I see us as a bubble team that might squeeze in but more likely not. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

We also had really good underlying metrics which proved those previous teams played above their heads for those wins. When reality struck, well you saw the outcome.

What we have now is bad underlying metrics yet we are still finding ways to win. Both starts may end up being the same when it comes to wins and losses but the underlying metrics speak a different story. What the Sabres are doing so far can be much more sustainable over the season. We will play easier teams that aren't contenders as well.

Yep. But the hope here is things shake out for the roster and it finds its footing. As that happens the team’s metrics keep getting better.

Steal some points while you’re working towards that would help give a playoff berth a chance. But I still think it’s a long shot at best.
