Pre-Game Talk: PLAYOFFS!!!!

Doughty was injured on March 7th, but didn't have his surgery until April 11th.

Google says recovery time for wrist surgery is 4 to 12 weeks. You have to wonder if he had surgery right away if there'd be a chance of him returning.

Kinda crazy that when you look at the line rushes, there's a chance TM goes with Grundstrom-Byfield-Lemieux for 4th line, leaving Arty out. I think that may happen, as he may want the physicality and more experienced Lemieux and Grundstrom over Arty. It does not help Arty, that he's not been his best, of late. He's been fine, though.

Now, consider SO MANY 1st / 2nd round picks (last 4+ years) may be sitting out.

#1 7 OA 2017 *Andersson
#1 11OA 2017 Vilardi
#1 20 OA 2018 Kupari
#1 5 OA 2019 Turcotte (ok, he just came back today with Ontario)
#1 22 OA 2019 Bjornfot
#2 33 OA 2019 Kaliyev

I don't know of any NHL team, with so many high end picks the past 4+ years, that are
not playing on their team...and Byfield is honestly not locked to play a lot. Although I think he
will play every game and do well. *not a King pick....it is pretty funny his King career may end,
with his last 2 shifts: scoring GWG and then next shift, sweet assist pass to Durzi for the recalled
goal. But then the rest of that game, did not get a shift.

Line rushes from today:

Athanasiou – Kopitar – Kempe
Moore – Danault – Arvidsson
Iafallo – Lizotte – Brown
Grundstrom – Byfield – Kaliyev – Lemieux
Andersson – Vilardi – Kupari

Edler – Roy
Anderson – Durzi
Maatta – Spence
Moverare – Stecher
Bjornfot – Strand

Quick / Petersen
___________________________________

They're in the playoffs and we're still on about how many high end picks aren't playing at the moment? They could win the Cup, and there would be at least one post saying yeah, sure, but Kaliyev played 11min, and got zero time on the PP. How is this going to help him develop?

That should be the playoff avatar. Young players with their minutes or line assignment, or lack thereof. With a little koala somewhere.

If we’re being honest, the 18 best players should play. I think that looks like:

Athanasiou - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Lemieux - Lizotte - Brown
Iafallo - Byfield - Grundstrom

Anderson - Spence
Maatta - Roy
Edler - Durzi

Quick

Moverare, Stecher, and Strand hopefully won’t play. Bjornfot might see some time. Andersson and Vilardi likely don’t play. Kupari and Kaliyev have a shot, with Kupari being most likely.

Just my two cents.
I just don’t see how you sit the most productive rookie forward after the season he had.

Arty is in, until poor play forces him out.

I think McDavid and Draisaitl eat Arty up on last change. But that lineup is just what I think Todd will roll out on game one. We’ll find out tomorrow!

Get their pp coach up here stat!!!

If Frk and Tynan are gone next year, those numbers are going to look a lot different. Frk has a top-level shot even by NHL standards, and Tynan assisted on something like 64% of their power play goals.

The Reign sure live and die by special teams.

This is exactly it. The Oilers were pinning us in big time at home largely due to match-ups. To the Kings' credit, they mostly bent and didn't break, but having experience on each line is paramount when goals get bigger.

It’s like Christmas Eve, cannot wait for game one. I could be wrong but this series doesn’t feel like the Vegas series where we were completely outmatched.
I don’t remember anyone having us as the underdogs going into the Vegas series…it’s almost like we went in too cocky and got steamrolled.

Hello HFKings, Oilers fan in peace, etc. I'm trying to get an idea of what your projected lineup for tomorrow will be as I'm on GDT duties, but oh boy do you guys ever have a lot of players right now, so taking guesses at who will be scratched is a bit tougher. How horribly off does this look:

Athanasiou – Kopitar – Kempe
Moore – Danault – Arvidsson
Iafallo – Lizotte – Brown
Grundstrom – Byfield – Kaliyev

Edler – Roy
Anderson – Durzi
Maatta – Spence

Quick / Petersen

I don't expect anyone to have a crystal ball and know exactly what the lineup will look like, but I'd like to at least post one that's plausible. Thanks for the help, and enjoy what should be a very entertaining series!

Thats the lineup we have been rolling the past couple of weeks, and Kings reporters have noted no changes so far. Only change I could see is Grundstrom being subbed for Lemiuex, but I think Grundy starts game 1.

Good luck!

As mentioned, that's a pretty good guess of the lineup. The wildcards are Lemieux and Vilardi, but Grundstrom has usually slotted next to Byfield.

Arvidsson wasn’t in practice today, anyone know if he was on the flight?

He'd better be....if he misses this series, the Kings have even less of a chance with AI on that line. AI's schtick is to
kill offense....the opponent and his own teams offense. He's easily contained and no longer has any jam. He leads the
NHL is shots hitting the goalie's chest logo.

I doubt many had them as favorites either, Vegas finished 5th overall, but then they were just overwhelmed by the speed of Vegas. The Kings won one, maybe two periods the entire series. They got 2g from their top 10 goal scorers. They at least got 6 against SJ.

Let’s have a good series 🤝

Brown better keep his knee tucked when skating past the two big horses
