Incredible rebuild progress seriously. Make playoffs after 3 years of tanking, that's really impressive.

Having that type of talent coming and assets to acquire great pieces like a top 6 C and top 4 RD.

The future is strong, the future is now, the future is there and still coming!!

The crazy thing is that you take a team like the Leafs and they always underperform even when they get all star players. Whereas with the Habs, you get our out-of-nowhere crazy run of 2010 then again out of nowhere Stanley Cup final of 2021. The year after we finish last in the whole league. Get Slaf. Then we may make it to the playoffs this yeat already in 2025. And Demidov is coming. That is insane. Habs are were magic happens.

I know some wings fans are coping with a good prospect base, and they do have some good peices, but I'm sure they were not expecting to get Larkin toiling around the 30 year old mark with no playoffs. They tried to Kickstart a few years ago when they began systematically adding veterans for a reason, and there's no way they made those moves with the intention to be playoff-less to this point.

To summarize this tweet in another way, Larkin has no playoff rounds to date, while the younger nick Suzuki seems poised to enter his 7th round of playoff hockey.

Rangers certainly fell apart. Many predicted them cup contenders in preseason
They seem to have some big culture issues and it definitely shows in how Drury handle Trouba and Goodrow. While both players were overpaid, I imagine they were popular in the room. It seems like once Trouba was gone and rumor was many players were on the block, the Rangers chemistry was over. They simply don't play like a team with any life or care

Wings are a good cautionary tale to spend money wisely if you have a young team and a bunch of cap. Signing a bunch of mediocre or past their prime players to decent size contracts was not wised at all. It's one thing to shelter your young players but do it wisely. Just look at the players they signed in free agency in recent years. You'll be hard to find good value signings or ones that have really panned out.

The Yzerplan failed so hard for numerous reasons.
1. They lacked an actual blueprint of a team profile (7/8 player profile)
2. The players they got for that profile are not good enough
3. Relative to 2, they never got high enough draft picks for an extended period of time. Highest is Raymond at 4 and they ended up tanking for picks closer to 10.
4. Infusing the team with vets and Ufa signings too early in the process.
5. Not having someone to oversee Yzerman like what Gorton does with Hughes

I'd actually be really peeved if I were a wings fan. They're stuck in no man's land. They're getting some good goalies soon. So their best hopes is being the next New York Islanders. Make the playoffs most years, hopefully win a round every so often but never be a contender

Is our magic number still just 3 more points?

Tonight can determine if they still need 3 points.

DET vs. FLA
CBJ vs. BUF
NYI vs. NYR

If DET, CBJ & NYI lose in regulation, the magic number will be 1 point.

If they lose in OT/SO, the magic number is 2.

If any of them win, the magic number is still 3.

In the NYI/NYR game, if NYR lose in regulation, they're eliminated. But tonight, we should want an NYR regulation win because then we'll only need 1 point to eliminate both New York teams.

So, if Columbus, Islanders and Wings all lose in regulation, Montreal's magic number will be 1, so they could clinch tomorrow with an OT/SO loss, or better against Ottawa.

If any of those teams lose in OT/SO Montreal's magic number is 2 and can clinch with any type of win against Ottawa on Friday

Islanders play the Rangers, who are on the 2nd part of a back-to-back. Rangers will have Shesterkin as Quick played against the Flyers.

Wings are at home to Florida, which is normally a loss, but with them missing a bunch of players AND Detroit being desperate, it will be a hard fought game.

Columbus is home to Buffalo. I believe Buffalo is on a 5 game win streak, but Columbus is deadly at home.

Can’t remember a time I saw this board as euphoric as it is now- maybe during our cup run. This is a great time to be a fan
During the 2021 run, people here were constantly complaining about players usage and the team not tanking, even after the wins. I guess it will be the same about Demidov ice time and how we should have sell everyone at the TDL.
