Playoffs Positivity Thread

I remember when people were mad Hughes didnt trade for anyone at the deadline. His gamble worked! And on top of that Montreal is now getting a potentially game breaker without giving anything
It honestly was a great example on how doing nothing is sometimes addition by standing pat. It gave the team a moral boost and we ended up adding players anyways with Kapanen and Demidov which is like trading for a top 6 winger and bottom 6 player but for free

One point and the Rangers are cooked.
That's a bit of a relief, they're the only team I was worried had the potential to turn it on and end the season on a 5 game win streak.
That was the team I was worried about too. Hard to imagine that the last year’s President’s Trophy winner with Shesterkin in net fails to make the playoffs this year.

I really don’t get why people thinks flipping Armia and Savard for like a 3rd and 5th was going to do anything. I get Armia isn’t scoring but he’s still been effective on the PK, hurt hand and all. Savard is slow, that’s obvious, but he’s still good on the PK.

Also, if we traded those two, we’d have to get similar players back, so it’d still cost assets.

There’s also special circumstances here. The captain went out of his way to go see management and said to stay put. Would nickel and diming to get incrementally better value really put us ahead?

Actually on 2nd thought, I want the Rangers to win against the Islanders tomorrow - in regulation. They'd both be down to one point.

Buffalo needs to beat Columbus in regulation on Thursday. And, Sabres are on fire right now. They've won 5 consecutive games & are 8-2 in last 10.

Then Detroit loses on the road to Florida in regulation.

Montreal can eliminate them all with a win on Friday in Ottawa.

Incredible rebuild progress seriously. Make playoffs after 3 years of tanking, that's really impressive.

Having that type of talent coming and assets to acquire great pieces like a top 6 C and top 4 RD.

The future is strong, the future is now, the future is there and still coming!!

I'm going to the Friday game so getting to clinch then would be great to see!

That was my thinking. A rangers win tomorrow (unlikely), Buffalo and Florida. If we beat the Sens, it would mean a lot of players could get some much needed rest.

Remember the game on Nov 30th in NY where Gorton punched the wall afterwards? The Rangers were in the first wild card after the game (13-9-1 for 27 points). The Habs were in last place in the East after the game, 8 points behind them (8-12-3 for 19 points).

The records since that game:

Habs: 31-18-6 for 68 points
NYR: 23-26-6 for 52 points

Somewhere Gorton should be smiling tonight.
