I'm hoping Tampa want to put some daylight between themselves and Florida.
Vasi against Shesterkin...

Can Ottawa clinch before Friday?

Yes. If they get 2 points against Columbus on Tuesday, they clinch. I expect them to be motivated to clinch. I'm sure they're going to rest some guys after that.

Tkachuk hasn't played in their last 4 games, so I doubt he plays this week.

Ottawa plays Montreal Friday night then Philadelphia at 1 PM on Sunday. We'll see what they do.

If they don't beat Columbus, they can clinch with NYR losing tonight to TB & Montreal beating Detroit tomorrow.

Games today:

7 PM: TBL @ NYR - TBL have clinched a playoff spot. They're 4 points back of Leafs for the Division, which with only 6 games left they're unlikely to win. They're only 2 points up on Florida, but have a game in hand, which is tonight's game.

TBL will want to grab home ice advantage because they suck on the road. They're below .500. They're 6-3-1 in last 10, but are only 3-5-2 in last 10 road games.

This is definitely a winnable game for NYR if they play inspired hockey, which they certainly haven't done in awhile. When they win, it's usually because Shesterkin won it for them. NYR don't have a dynamic enough offense to beat Vasilevsky when they couldn't even beat Markstrom. I expect NYR to cave to the inevitable and lose tonight.

10:30 PM: Calgary @ SJS - The Flames aren't dead yet! Wild's win against Dallas was a massive 2 points, but Calgary can climb back to within 4 points of WC2 with a win tonight.

Both teams play Wednesday. Minnesota hosts San Jose, while Calgary is @ Anaheim. Then they play each other on Friday night in Calgary. A Minnesota win would finish the Flames off, but Calgary has a solid home record.

Minnesota is only 4-4-2 in last 10 while Calgary is 6-2-2. I expect Calgary to beat San Jose. Flames are playing desperation hockey right now. San Jose is not a good team.

I think tomorrow's game against Detroit is the big game.

The reason I say this is because they play Sens and Leafs back-to-back Friday and Saturday. Sens are also hot right now. And I think they would be motivated to get their revenge for their last 2 games against Habs, one where they were up 2-1 heading into the 3rd, and then when Habs tied it, they came back and scored to make it 3-2 and ended up losing 6-3.

And Leafs are always a tough game.

My hope is they beat Wings, especially in regulation. And then would be happy if they even pick up at least loser points against Sens and Leafs.

I can’t imagine the team is happy blowing a 3-0 home lead to the Leafs their last game against them. I expect them to go hard.

Last year I made the trip up from Halifax and saw three games, Florida, Tampa and Toronto, and had a good time despite the Tampa and Toronto games derailed because of the classic Habs 2nd period crap the bed fest. It ended up being worth it because we got Demidov.

Last September I took a look on Ticketmaster and after realizing I could get three much better tickets for HALF I paid for last year I took the splash and bought the damn tickets even though I suspected at the time these would be nothing games ( Florida yet again, Boston and Philly ) .

I've been a Habs fan since I knew what hockey was and been making trips up from Hali since the Geoffrion retirement game in 2006 and this is the loudest, most electric atmosphere at the Bell ( Molson ) Center that I have ever experienced- the pops when Suzuki tied that game and won in OT last Tuesday were deafening.

My biggest fear was the Habs just missing the playoffs but this past week has pretty much seen that fear set aside- I have faith in Hughes and the scouting staff to hit on our picks and using them for immediate help if the situation presents itself, I think we may have 7 picks in the top 100 right now and we have the Demigod coming next year.

Suzuki has proven to be a leader, he went to Hughes and asked him not to blow it up, and when Hughes told him to prove it Suzuki has taken this team on his shoulders and has taken this team to the cusp of making the playoffs. That top is a threat every time it is on the ice, they weren't 365 days ago when I first watched them live in person.

It is a delight to watch every player on this team buying in and doing their job.

BRING ON THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!

Forgive the PST haha

5 GAMES LEFT
Gets a bit harder as TOR and OTT will want to stick it to us, CAR are a real challenge for our current roster, DET will be a tight match IMO, and then CHI is the 'easiest' of the bunch.

They can't possibly go 5-0 for this (right?) but I think they need to shoot for is to not lose in regulation. I could see us going 4-0-1 or 3-0-2 in this last stretch.

Carolina has a lethal home record but mediocre road record.

They are also comfortably in 2nd place. Habs generally don't do well against Carolina but this might be the right place and time to get them.

The lightning are jockeying for positioning in the division still, so thay a good sign that they will come to play tonight.
