Things sure don't get easier for NYR, CBJ & Ottawa on Thursday. Montreal is the only team on the road. All 3 teams are at home.

Ottawa vs Colorado
Toronto vs NYR
Florida vs Columbus

Detroit doesn't play again til Saturday when they're @ Vegas.
Of course toronto is on a b2b. However cgy was on a b2b amd they held nyr to only 13 shots

Leafs winning the division and us coming in as WC1 means we face the Leafs in round 1, which means a solid chance at round 2.

We neee to be at 89 though because we have no tie breakers compared to the other teams
If we ignore Moneypuck, because their projection system sucks. Example: the Rangers have better odds of making the playoffs than the Habs, despite the Habs pts projection being higher in their own table.

We have:

Habs, as of this morning, are projected to get 89 pts...and the rest dropped to 86 or less.
Also, at ~50% chances of making the playoffs.

I consider Detroit and Boston statistically eliminated, because even if they were to win all their remaining games, they can't go higher than 93/92 points, which is around what is took to make the playoffs the last few seasons.

NYR, NYI and Columbus max at 96, 97, 95 pts. So not much room there either, but still a chance if the Habs collapse.
The Habs max is 101 pts...

Habs are 100% in control, if they fail at making the playoffs, it's because they collapsed on the last stretch.

Habs have had some big wins this season followed by disappointments. I am hoping we keep the momentum going. The next 4 games include 2 traps (NYI, PHI), a team fighting for the playoffs (STL) and a (should be tired) Colorado team at the end of a road trip. Beating OTT was awesome, though!

NYI is another 4 point playoff game. We need to win that game. If we do, we move 5 points up on Isles. If Florida can also beat CBJ, we'll have breathing room, so if we do lose against Avs it won't hurt us too bad.

After that, we go on a 4 game road trip to end March.

How did you get these numbers?

Habs can max out at 103. Wings and Rags at 98. Boston at 95....

I got different totals for every team lmao. Maybe I'm just way worse at math than I thought idk

Roy needs to be replaced.. I haven’t watched Laval at all but I thought Barre-Boulet was decent during his short stint here, he is leading the rockets in points. Would he be worth a look over Roy?

So many hot and cold teams this year. Don't recall seeing a stretch drive like this year. Habs 8-1-2 last 11. Ottawa was hot alao. Detroit lost 6 of last 7. Colombus lost 4 straight. After both were on heaters.

Someone is going to pick up the pace. 89 points is a very low bar.

If they are going to send Roy down and bring someone else up, it should be Farrell.
He's been dominant the last few months, and it would make sense to put a playmaker on the Laine line.

Imagine the following:
1. We had Laine from day 1
2. We had a proper back-up instead of Primeau from day 1
3. We didn't get the flu right before the 4 Nation

Honorable mention is Hutson on PP1, but I think management did the right thing to wait on that one. A lot of us wanted Hutson on PP1 sooner, and that may have given us a few more wins, but whatever. Also, Guhle getting hurt sucks, but the D squad has really stepped up.

89 very well could be enough. It'd take one of the 4 teams were competing with to play just above 0.600 hockey for it not to be.

Detroit has the strongest strength of schedule in the entire league, so they're likely done. Islanders are 4th and they sold at the deadline, so I can't see them doing it. It's going to depend on what Columbus and the Rangers do in the homestretch.
