Columbus is suddenly really struggling to score. They've had back to back 4-0 losses, and are now down 2-0 to New Jersey after 2. That's 8 consecutive periods without scoring.

They've lost their last 3 games, so if they lose tonight that's 4 in a row. Like Detroit, they seem to be going off the rails in the final stretch.

Why not? They need to lose tonight in regulation, then go into MSG and win tomorrow night in regulation
People mostly being conservative and they prefer a 15-ish pick than Calgary falling in the top 10 and getting 26th pick from Florida.

Or they hope Calgary will suddenly fall off late in the season and drop to 11-12.

Columbus has so many good players. They'd have a playoff spot locked up if Monahan was still healthy.

Also, Marchenko has the long legs, short neck and wide and high shoulders you look for in eastern european players. It's the Draisaitl phenotype. Guaranteed solid player, no need to even scout the guy with that physique.
