If we make a playoff berth, we will likely get knocked out in the first two starting rounds (Just a reasonable fan here). Our chances of making the playoffs are better than last year because of the shortened season. On the other half, if the leafs crap the bed, will you guys be dissapointed? We'll get a good draft pick but a lot of us just want to see a playoff game with the leafs in it. I just hope we don't finish 9th or 10th.

High draft pick...because I don't think we can make the playoffs with the roster we have.

No shame in riding the back of the bus for a while...

It's overdue anyway.

high draft pick, then in the summer sign some good ufa's

I would go with the making the Playoffs for this reason. Even if Toronto finishes with one of the worst records in the NHL there is still not a guarantee of a high draft pick. Plus with all 14 non Playoff teams having a chance at the 1st overall pick, we can't say if they finish in the bottom 5 at least they get to select within the first five picks of the 2013 Draft.

Playoffs. Team is young, and our winning window is opening, but because of the type of rebuild we did, it won't be open for a long time. We need to make the most out of the players we have in their prime.

Playoffs.

We could get Mackinnon or Jones but that wouldn't fix the a lot of the bigger problems.

I'd be a lot happier if this team showed that it's systemic problems were gone and we a competitive team again. It would do wonders for making this one of if not the most desirable place to play again.

As bad as we have been, I don't think we have bottomed out yet, when you hit the bottom, there is nowhere to go but up.

This team needs to bottom out, stop fighting trying to finish between 20th to 25th. Bottom out and then rise.

As I said elsewhere I doubt we make the post season with Luongo. So let's Keep Kadri and Bozak and finish in sight of MacKinnon.

This is a deep C draft, we need a #1, now's the time to get it.

Van might buy out Luongo this summer and a nice 4M x 4 deal might get him here. Not to mention other Goalies will be available.

Don't blow it this year. Maintain the course.

Playoffs. About time too.

Teams that are remembered are the ones that win, not the ones that win the draft lottery. Besides, Oilers are always there to give competition there.

You really don't think with a goalie at .920 SV% we wouldn't make it?

With that combined with Kessel and Lupul we will definitely be in the top 8. I would actually say we might challenge for home-ice.

I hope we have a nice run like we did at the beginning of 2011-12 and create some buzz around this team. There's a cap crunch coming and some nice players hitting free agency. It will be better to be on the upswing and maybe attract those Getzlaf or Perry level UFAs here and get a lot better in a hurry than to put our hopes on another 18 year old. This is a good pivot point for the franchise, I think Burke's been lining up his contracts for this.

And Florida to an extent.

to no extent did that strategy work out for Florida. Kulikov is the only player on that team that tanking paid dividends for. They got good from hot goaltending and some free agency signings that they needed to get to the cap floor.
