Glad Pesce is ok but I don’t really see him holding up well over a long playoff run with the workload he’s getting and how reliant they are on him to put his body on the line defensively. Not that I think they can go on a long run this year but over the course of that contract it would be a concern for me if I were a Devils fan

Wish Pesce was too hurt to play but nothing career related. Just as Rod would put it "he has a little thing, not quite game ready"

Perfectly healthy otherwise.
I don’t believe “has a little thing, not quite game ready” is a playoff thing.

Landed in Switzerland this morning. I’m not ready to adopt the schedule of our Finish brethren so I think I’m missing a 2:30am puck drop.

For sure. Dude looked beyond winded every time they showed him on the bench. He's an absolute warrior and will play great again tonight, without a doubt. He'll bring it in every game in this series. I could see him falling off if he makes rounds 3-4, but I don't worry about his athleticism yet. We're more likely to score goals by exploiting the non-Dumoulin/Pesce/Siegs defensemen.

I honestly think we're playing even better overall than the 2023 Devils series, but the Devils are being bolstered by Pesce's goal saves and better goaltending to keep the score from getting out of hand. That said, expect NJD to come out blazing tonight.

Yeah I was being sarcastic. I don't want Brett to be hurt but would be nice if he had to miss the rest of the series

Pesce looked fantastic in game 2. But his play in game 1 didn't leave me thinking "if only we still had him our chances would be so much greater!". And even if it's a just a maintenance day, it's still a reminder of the concerns about how he is going to hold up physically going forward. I like the guy and wish him the best, but one game doesn't change my thoughts about the Borg making the right long term decision to move on, painful as it is to lose a guy with his history with the Canes.

edit: above doesn't take into account "addition by subtraction" if a retained Pesce prompted Rod to move Burns down, but we all know that would have been unlikely to happen.
