Ron, usually I'd be on the same train as you but no teams have helped the Kings throughout this run. Winnipeg and Calgary have been amazing and the Kings have not. Winnipeg won't lose to Colorado, they just beat Minnesota and St Louis in back to back games. The Kings can't even beat Edmonton! Cmon man, just give it up. This team is toast. Watch a Jets game or a Flames game, those kids are playing their best player and all playing with their hearts. Go watch the Kings shootout attempts vs Vancouver. Disgusting.

As a Jets fan, I like the scenario of us beating COL and CGY in regulation and LA winning the next two in regulation, leaving Calgary out.

HFBoards would go loco, especially in St. Louis, Chicago, New York, Anaheim and Vancouver.

I'm all for Calgary missing the playoffs.

And for the record, Floyd Mayweather Jr. probably has more money in the glove compartments of his Veyrons than Kane will ever have.

It's almost like you just read a completely different thread and decided to post your response in this one.

Actually that Calgary/Winnipeg game can't become irrelevant. Winnipeg is 3 points in front of us. So the best we can do is get 1 point in front of them. And the best we can do is get 2 points in front of Calgary by winning out. So no our season even if we win out comes down to that game.
We don't have to get one point in front of Winnipeg. We only have to tie them. We have to finish 1 point in front of Calgary.

@elliotpap Eddie Lack on watching Oilers beat LA: "My mom was pretty much screaming like we won the Cup every time Edmonton scored.†#Canucks

Hope the Kings come into next season pissed off

If both Calgary and Winnipeg lose in regulation Thursday, then on the final day if the Kings beat Sanjose, then the winner of Winnipeg Calgary makes playoffs and loser is out. Only if Kings lose in reg to San Jose would the Winnipeg Calgary game not be relevant. But they both start at noon, so....

Kings need a little bit of luck - but we will really know what they're made of if they can win both of those games.

BTW, this Jets fan is lurking here because we haven't been this intensely involved in pre-playoff hockey for a long time. We definitely hope to make the playoffs, but we are enjoying the pre-dance activities as well. I just enjoying reading what people have to say about hockey that directly pertains to my team and its success. There is no hockey tonight so I am looking for hockey-related activity to engage in. Thanks for helping with that. I enjoy your discussions.

I really hate to explain in detail why the game is irrelevant. But, apparently, some posters need it spelled out.

If Los Angeles wins its next game in regulation against Calgary and Colorado beats Winnipeg in regulation, that leaves:

Winnipeg 96
Calgary 95
Los Angeles 95

Now, let's go through all the scenarios, given Los Angeles wins against San Jose:

1. Winnipeg beats Calgary in regulation:

Winnipeg 98
Los Angeles 97
Calgary 95

Los Angeles makes it as the 3rd seed.

2. Winnipeg beats Calgary in OT/SO:

Winnipeg 98
Los Angeles 97
Calgary 96

Los Angeles makes in as the 3rd seed.

3. Calgary beats Winnipeg in regulation:

Calgary 97
Los Angeles 97
Winnipeg 96

Los Angeles makes it as a wild card.

4. Calgary beats Winnipeg in OT/SO:

Calgary 97
Los Angeles 97
Winnipeg 97

Los Angeles makes it as a wild card.

Therefore, as I stated in OP, the Calgary/Winnipeg game becomes irrelevant.

The most excruciating thing in the world would be us beating down Calgary while Winnipeg loses to Colorado...only for the Sharks to come from behind in the third and beat us on Saturday.

Sorry, I'm busy picturing all the worst case scenarios, because I'm trying to imagine how this season could be more of a nightmare.

You want a nightmare season? Be a CBJ or a PIT fan. At least both those teams have had a **** load of injuries for excuses...LAK? Not so much.

Is that not what makes it a nightmare?

They can at least say 'when we're healthy, we'll be fine.' We can really only partially say that, most of our problems are self-inflicted.

CBJ is nails, Pit's a mess injuries or not though.

You could look at the Voynov situation as a serious injury that messed up the entire defense, especially being in cap limbo for so long. But ya, those teams have had it worse injuries wise.

The Jackets are way better than their record. Ryan Johansen is a freaking stud.

That Jacket team is nails. They just need some more D and get healthy.
