Unfortunately, now we need some help.

However, only one game needs to go our way to get in. Amazingly, if Colorado beats Winnipeg in regulation on Thursday and the Kings win their last two games in regulation, that Calgary-Winnipeg games becomes irrelevant. The Kings get in no matter how that game ends up.

If Winnipeg gets a point against Colorado, all bets are off and I am pretty sure we are done. No one is going to do us any favors in that Calgary/Winnipeg game.

That would be all she wrote.

Usually an optimist no matter the case, but the loss on monday night, killed something inside of me, and even though I see the best possible scenario play out, it's probably wishful/selective thinking.

But this stupid voice inside my head tells me, losing monday and last night, might've sparked something, for tomorrow night. They would've had 'unfinished business' if you will, against the pesky Flames for the first 3 losses they took their hands...... They'll be up for this one FOR SURE. Colorado, is playing for pride and I'm sure they'll be up for the Winnipeg game at home as well. But how Pavelec is just playing unconscious in net, don't know what the hell Colorado can do to help the boys. Anyways, all they can do is win two games and see how the cookie crumbles I guess. Other than that, stress free playoff watching commences.

Actually that Calgary/Winnipeg game can't become irrelevant. Winnipeg is 3 points in front of us. So the best we can do is get 1 point in front of them. And the best we can do is get 2 points in front of Calgary by winning out. So no our season even if we win out comes down to that game.

There are two positive scenarios that could play out:

1. LA takes all 4 points. Calgary loses in shootout against us. That gives Winnipeg incentive to play hard Saturday because Calgary holds the tie breaker over them. And the Jets will get Byfuglien back for that game.

2. LA beats Calgary in regulation, Winnipeg loses in shootout to Colorado. LA takes one point from San Jose, and Calgary loses to Winnipeg in regulation (cuz they have something to play for).

It becomes irrelevant if WPG loses because LA would have 97, CGY 95 and WPG 96, so even if CGY wins vs WPG in OT or something, LA beats WPG on ROW, or vice versa LA beats CGY 97-96.

You guys are going to have to come out really hard if you want to beat us Thursday, the Flames know what they are playing for and will come out harder than ever. The Kings will have to play their best hockey to have a chance.

You do understand what the meaning of the word irrelevant is? Having to have a certain result makes it relevant.

As a Jets fan, I like the scenario of us beating COL and CGY in regulation and LA winning the next two in regulation, leaving Calgary out.

HFBoards would go loco, especially in St. Louis, Chicago, New York, Anaheim and Vancouver.

Not knocking on what you're saying dude, but ....

Kings best hockey >>>>>>>> flames best hockey.

And I'm not being biased

The OP specifically stated that had to happen for the CGY/WPG game to be irrelevant. It didn't say that the WPG/CGY was irrelevant regardless of other outcomes.

I love how every other team is just lurking in all our threads expecting some raging, angry response, as if we are so upset we might be missing the playoffs.

Hard to mock a team that just won two Cups in three years and is fresh off of three consecutive Western Conference Finals appearances; regardless of how poorly LA has played this season. They can have their playoff birth though.

Not to mention being mocked by a fan of a team that has missed the playoffs for several straight years and hasn't won a playoff round since before the salary cap era IIRC.

I really hate to explain in detail why the game is irrelevant. But, apparently, some posters need it spelled out.

If Los Angeles wins its next game in regulation against Calgary and Colorado beats Winnipeg in regulation, that leaves:

Winnipeg 96
Calgary 95
Los Angeles 95

Now, let's go through all the scenarios, given Los Angeles wins against San Jose:

1. Winnipeg beats Calgary in regulation:

Winnipeg 98
Los Angeles 97
Calgary 95

Los Angeles makes it as the 3rd seed.

2. Winnipeg beats Calgary in OT/SO:

Winnipeg 98
Los Angeles 97
Calgary 96

Los Angeles makes in as the 3rd seed.

3. Calgary beats Winnipeg in regulation:

Calgary 97
Los Angeles 97
Winnipeg 96

Los Angeles makes it as a wild card.

4. Calgary beats Winnipeg in OT/SO:

Calgary 97
Los Angeles 97
Winnipeg 97

Los Angeles makes it as a wild card.

Therefore, as I stated in OP, the Calgary/Winnipeg game becomes irrelevant.

Not feeling it.

Neither am I, honestly. Just laying it out there for comment.

Winnipeg has really impressed me this week. Guess getting rid of Johnny Money was the best thing that could have ever happened to them. Getting Tyler Myers in return didn't hurt, either.
